It was one of the most dissapointing seasons for many. teams: Ferrari, McLaren, Lotus, Sauber, Caterham, Marussia. And for drivers: Vettel, Räikkönen, Sutil, and all the drivers of the teams that dissapointed. Williams having a clear edge over the mid pack and Mercedes over other front runners did not help to make racing exciting. But I guess there was plenty of good racing for positions 5-16. Most of people just could never be happy about it.

I voted just 2/10.

Too much rule changes, horrific sound, too confusing, too difficult to explain to new fans, and just silly engine freeze that don't allow rivals to catch Mercedes.

One of the worst seasons I could remember. Only great thing I can take from this season was my buddy Ricci doing well.

Incidentally, here are the average ratings for the races this year from the ratings threads (it is scored as a straight average, but the numbers in brackets are a rating based on an IMDB-style formula to attempt to exclude 'fanboy' votes- i.e. those who voted a fantastic race as 1 just because their favourite driver lost or vice versa...- but without excluding all extreme votes if there are genuinely loads due to awesome/awful races).

1. Hungary - 9.1 (9.0)

2. Bahrain - 9.0 (8.9)

3. Canada - 8.7 (8.7)

4. Germany - 7.8 (7.9)

5. Belgium - 7.7 (7.7)

6. Great Britain - 7.6 (7.5)

7. Italy - 7.2 (7.0)

8. Brazil - 6.9 (6.8)

9. USA - 6.7 (6.6)

10. Australia - 6.1 (5.7)

11. Abu Dhabi - 6.1 (5.9)

12= Monaco - 6.0 (6.4)

12= Austria - 6.0 (6.3)

14. Spain - 5.5 (5.8)

15. Singapore - 5.4 (5.4)

16. Japan - 5.2 (5.5)

17. Malaysia - 4.7 (4.9)

18. China - 4.4 (4.6)

19. Russia - 3.2 (3.3)

SEASON AVERAGE: 6.5 (6.5)

And oddly enough the average from the poll above also currently stands at 6.5!

Its also pretty clear to see that the races on classic circuits score much higher generally than the Tilkedromes and modern street tracks.

Japan seems a tad low, although I suspect that was due to how that race ended.

voted 9 out of 10

Best Driver: "Danny" Riccardo. need I say why?

Worst Driver: Kimi Once again need I say why?

Best Team: Red Bull Racing.

Despite being the clear underdogs they came second in the constructors. They also prepare ahead with lots of plans. Mercedes's car was so good they just made one plan and let the speed do the rest. Their dealing with the spa collision between ROS and HAM told me that they actually only want one driver to be champion. No wonder Rosberg lost form after that. I would as well if I knew that the team is actually only behind one guy. They did though mumble about a fair chance but it was not.

Best Overtake: There are a lot but the ones made by RIC do stand out.

Best Moment: RIC victory in Canada.

Tyres and DRS: I have no problem with them.

In a sentence: Great season, but I hove Mercedes do a better job with their drivers next year and they get a proper challenge from the other teams.

Gave the season an 8/10. Races like Bahrain, Canada and Hungary will live long in the memory.

I voted 8/10.

It could only be bettered by more competition from drivers in other teams.  It genuinely went to the wire with closely matched team mates.

Next year I hope there are 4 or 5 drivers in it.

Below average. Some good racing masked by the most dominant car in recent history. Certain fans devalued Button WDC and Vettels due to their car but compared to this years rocketship they were milkfloats

Very good season that will gain in stature as time progresses I feel.

Great regs, let's hope the noisy philistines and Bernie don't ruin it by trying to turn it into WWF1.

Lewis best driver.

Pastor worst, you know something's wrong when your mechanics are laughing at the sight of the back of your car in flames.

Ricci best overtaker of the season, would have given him best driver but Lewis won it.

Merc best team by a long way.

3/10

* Two teams in bankrupt, few in line of it

* One driver had so serious accident he might be vegetable for rest of his life

* Previous year (2013) secret testings for Mercedes made team - for everyone's surprise - very awesome in year 2014

* Due engine development rules Mercedes is most likely staying in reign next 5 years. No other has any changes against them

* Russian GP. It was Adolf Putlers big PR victory - F1 should have never gone there after crimes in Crimea and Ukraine

* Track limits

* Radio limits

* Double points

I wonder how Bernie and pals plan to make next season even more worse.

I'd like to also just post some positive comments to try and balance up this list.

*New team Marussia scored points

 Forza Jules  :cry:

*Return of in-season testing

*Now the engine suppliers are more involved and are no longer equal as they were before, adding an extra dimension

*F1 stayed out of politics

*Track limits were applied sensibly

*Radio limits only banned the aspects that should have been banned

*Double points had no effect

I'm gonna be honest I used to be that guy who never missed a session, or have the VHS recorder ready a day before in case I had to. Nowadays I watch qualy from the end of Q2 and I'm glad I had to download a few missed races as I could fast forward through them.

Equipment preservation and DRS passes do not excite me one bit. Add to that the usual midseason rules tinkering, the worst incident in 20 years, double points, teams going bankrupt etc. and it's hard for me to get excitd about this season. The racing has been dreadful since 2009 if you ask me.

Best moment of the year :

Vettel passed by a lapped Caterham (Kamui Kobayashi) Chinese GP 2014

8/10, very enjoyable but without what Inreally enjoy, two #1 drivers in two well-matched teams fighting it out for the title. IMHO much better than an inter-team fight.
Best driver: Hamilton, a great performance all season against a very strong Rosberg. Honourable mention to Jenson Button.
Worst driver: Kimi, he was pish plus all the fanboy excuses got really annoying.
Best team: I'm going to say Williams, they have had an amazing comeback, brought a genuinely gorgeous livery into F1 and probably achieved what they were capable of. Going from backmarker to race winner in a season isn't going to happen so hopefully we'll see them win in 2015.
Best moment: Lewis vs Nico in Bahrain.
Comedy moment: Maldonado on fire.
DRS + tyres: Seem to matter less now both have been around a while.
One sentence: "I enjoyed it."

I dont understand why loads of people are rating this season so badly. Yes I am obviously biased but surely this season was much better than 2011/2013 seeing as the championship wasn't decided with 4 or 5 races to go and had two drivers fighting it out right until the end. Yes there was one completely dominant team but surely everyone should just be used to this now and be pleased to see that both drivers were actually allowed to race. Yes people like to moan about the sound of engine and I admit it is not as good as it used to be but surely for most people when they were watching hamilton and rosberg fighting it out in bahrain they were not sitting there moaning about the engines, save that for the dreadful races like Russia. If the racing is great then it does not matter that much. People say F1 is too complicated now, and yes if you wanted to try and properly explain how the cars and power units work then it would be fairly difficult, but the basic principles still remain and they are not difficult to explain.

People naturally complain, and always will, about DRS and the Pirelli tires but that is how F1 is now and it is not going to change anytime soon so it seems pointless to keep moaning about it. Also would really prefer to watch a race like Bahrain 2010 again rather than Bahrain 2014 just because F1 is in some aspects artificial now. Double points is gone for next season so no need to moan about that anymore.

Also how do you define a perfect race or perfect season. Has there ever been a season that was truly worthy of a 10/10

Please feel free to disagree with everything I have said, just my point of view

It's because it was clear by the third race that one of the Merc drivers was going to take the title. Half the grid would get a win or two in the most dominant car in recent history so unless you're a Hamilton fan, it got a little bit stale.

I'd expect it was fun for Nico fans too.

Do you think they would vote high after the season though? I'm not saying there is anything wrong with voting high. I'm sure Vettel fans loved him winning too

Decent season 8/10

Sochi ended up as the new Valencia, and Singapore was dire, so two points off!
