Very simple, yay or nay?
Will Caterham find a buyer for 2015?

Given the past weekend, it's a shame the money can't be found to keep the administrators running the team.
They did a rather better job than the actual owners had been doing...
However, sadly, unless another billionaire decides he wants a vanity project, or some shady types decide they have money to cleanse, I'm afraid that'll be the last we'll see of Caterham and Marussia.

I would like to see the team bought, but I'm afraid it's not going to happen.

I'm curious about this. I have read similar comments elsewhere. Unfortunately I was more busy than usual this weekend and had to tape the race and barely read any articles - what did they do this weekend that they hadn't before? In what way did Finbarr impress? I'm genuinely interested.
Apparently money has been found to run Will Stevens and the team at the tests this week.

"There are people who actually buy these things.."
As the administrator said this weekend.
Those people might be hard to find this time though.

They ran last and second last until Kobayashi retired with a mechanical leaving the other driver to continue the race in last place where he ultimately finished.
They also took a thank-you photo in the pit lane later in the evning.
Big progress!

Really impressive and far better than in the Kolles period

I thought Will Stevens showed some spirit and (dare I say it?) potential during the race - particularly when Alonso was trying to pass him!
Finbarr O'Connell made a perfectly acceptable fist of being TP for the weekend - though he really must learn not to give straight answers to questions - we don't want any of that nonsense in F1 do we Ron?

Kobayashi's fastest lap in that final race is quite interesting, almost the same as Alonso's. I wonder if they put less fuel intentionally to his car to impress potential buyers. If not, that's quite impressive.

I did find it amusing how an administrator ends up on the prat perch as team principal - that's a dream for most people! He made a good job of it, and seems a no-nonsense kind of guy.
He said today that there is a buyer very interested in taking over in the next month, and they are related to F1 - so I wonder who it could be? I still think it would be a good investment for Honda to invest in either Manor or Caterham and make a B-team to give Magnussen and Vandoorne drives, and use it as a future feeder team for the McLaren young drivers.
For someone wanting to get into F1 independently, buying Caterham would be a no brainer - they have the entry, the factory, the staff, etc. So I'm pretty confident they will sell.

Well they are running in the post season test today so I guess that's encouraging, isn't it?

Don't think they will find a buyer. I mean it's a complete mess and if there is someone who is tired of being rich then he can better start fresh. Maybe buy the factory in Leafield, but that's it.

they & Marussia both would need tons of cash just to pay off their existing debts, no way they will get that & the funds to race really is there?

I am sure Bernie will be working hard on a behind the scenes deal because of the need to keep at least 20 cars

Now that it's in administration, my understanding (though I could be wrong) is that the administrators only need to get the best deal they can for the creditors, which if there's only one or two bidders, may only be pence on the pound, so potentially someone could pick up the team with little of the debt burden.

If the claims that the V6 engines cost £40,000,000+ for a season are true, then the debts must be substantial...

I hope they find a buyer and make it to the grid next year.
I always enjoy seeing the small teams punching above their weight.
I rather see the small teams racing than seeing the top teams having three cars on the grid.

We talked to a local who has taken it upon himself to feed the fish left in the ponds out front who said word on the street is Ferrari are currently sniffing around it to make into a new UK base alongside their HQ in Italy. You're right there is everything they need in there to start up again right away.

It looks like it could be turned into a good call centre or a TV shopping channel HQ.

Is that a mop on the left or has someone laid a wreath in memory of CaterhamF1?
Edit: Because I spelt wreath, reef. I could have edited and not mentioned it but it was such a moronic error I must shame myself publicly.

I just used the word 'wreath' in another thread - I cheated and looked up the correct spelling first!

Such a shame no one picked this team up. I remember when we had prequalifying to determine who got to try to qualify. Now teams fall off the back of the grid and no one will miss them until we hit 16 cars or so. Then everyone will be crying that Bernie should have done something.

True-Concorde agreement provided for 26 starters,30 qualifiers.1989 there were 39 entries..

Team boss/cleaner Ioan Cojocaru probably left it, along with his briefcase.
