For example, Ferrari said they would produce 399 Enzos but if you do further research and find the number of actual Enzo's produced it is in excess of 460, possibly around 500. This is also true as one of my personal client in New York has an Enzo that says '1 of 399' but with his VIN production number and on the Enzo register it is identified one built as 'post-production'. As all LaFerraris and P1s are sold out, I'm willing to bet Alonso will get a P1 and Vettel a LaFerrari despite being 'sold-out'.

they were originally going to build 349 but they ended up with 399 and built the 400th and donated it to charity.

I'm still convinced Porsches LMP1 effort is half about winning Le Mans and half about developing tech for a future F1 entry.

Everyone else on the grid is running big engines yet porsche runs a 2L Turbo Hybrid etc.

Alonso/Hulkenberg Porsche F1. (or Audi).

Only Force India would be able to stop him, Mercedes couldn't do a thing about it, and it'd be beyond pathetic for them to say to the team "if you let him drive a Porsche at Le Mans and Spa we won't let you use our engines in F1".

Maybe a hint.

Amazed by this news! Thought Bernie and the Sponsors would have enough roadblocks between them. Go Hulk.

Still think there is a huge difference between SFI agreeing and McLaren agreeing... but not going to say "no chance" to anything now.

All Porsche Le Mans factory entries in the top classes since the mid-1970s have used turbo engines.

kosmos: Alonso in a Rebellion R-One privateer LMP1 car?  :smoking:

Suprised Force India / Mercedes would let Hulk race outside F1.

And with their German rival.

I wish him luck. It's a very cool concept.

They let Fisi go to Ferrari right after he got 2nd place at Spa in 2009, FI does not get in the way of it's drivers aspirations. Merc doesn't really have a say in what Hulk does IMO.

Well IIRC Fisi was placed at Ferrari after his good work in the 2008 season. It was already rumored that he would be a AF Corsa driver when he would step outside F1, Also there were very big rumors at that time that Force India either had to pay a fine, or had a debt to Ferrari for either canceling or running the Ferrari engine in resp 2009 and 2008. And it was that reason Fisi could go to Ferrari.

no it was Fisi replacing Badoer (who was replacing the injured Massa) ... it was pretty much assumed FI wouldn't renew him for another season and when Ferrari offered the seat Vijay did the gentlemanly thing and let Fisi live the Ferrari dream before he retired

the presence of Hulkenberg with Porsche in Le Mans is confirmed. will not be the only surprise in LMP1

I suspect the alludes to new private LMP1 project which will be announced shortly rather than Alonso or Button.

Why would Mercedes have any say whatsoever on what Force India drivers do? They are a customer that pays for their engines, not a works team

Mercedes are the package to have at the moment, and have considerable influence.

Nico's career is at a crossroads. Even as a Porsche fan I wouldn't burn the 'Benz bridge just yet.

Anche #Autosprint conferma le voci che vorrebbero Alonso alla guida di una Porsche alla Le Mans 2015. Insieme a Hulk.

To save feeding that into the auto translate:

#Autosprint Also confirmed rumors that Alonso driving a Porsche at Le Mans 2015. Along with Hulk .

I am not aware about the 349/399 figure change but interestingly enough the 400th Enzo that was built for charity is in the States now, in Miami from memory.

Hokey Moley!

It's one thing to have some good F1 or recently left drivers to see what they're capable of. But to have what is widely acknowledged as the best (or at least equal best) F1 driver in a top shelf car is fantastic

The twitter user I linked to there also added a scan of the cover.

I took as Autosprint confirming it, but I guess there could be small print in which they keep their options a bit more open.

The details of the agreement that COULD take the former Ferrari driver to Le Mans 24h at the wheel of a 919 Hybrid. The decision, before Christmas.

A bit o/t, but I found this tweet even more interesting:

Quello che vi dicevo ieri mattina viene confermato anche da AS Spagna. Dennis o compra un ulteriore 25% della McLaren o vende il suo 25%.

translated:

What I said yesterday morning is also confirmed by AS Spain. Dennis to buy an additional 25% of McLaren or sell its 25%.

We'll see. Cooper isn't necessarily bad, but I don't always trust him.

...and now the Korean GP is scheduled for May 3. But it's TBC. We'll see if that holds.

Not so sure. That article seems like pure speculation. There's not a single hint of his sayings being based on some inside knowledge.

Let's wait and see! I am keeping my fingers crossed!

Well I hate to state the bleedin obvious but who knows what is happening deep in the bowels at Woking. Perhaps they are also building an LMP1 car. Maybe this is "the great challenge" that Alonso alludes to for 2015. Alonso may be driving McLaren-Honda in WEC and F1. One car, Alonso + Button + PDR for drivers. Whacky? Outrageous ? If Toyota and Nissan are involved in WEC , Honda are also going to join in sooner or later. And as our good friend Murray Walker used to say" Anything can happen in motor racing and usually does"..

From this video (4:00 onwards): http://www.ccma.cat/.../video/5393031/

- Honda is giving 100% for this project and I want to pay them with 100% commitment.

- I love Le Mans and endurance cars and one day I'm going to race there for sure, no doubt about it.

A McLaren Honda LMP1 car?? Driven by three F1 drivers? I just wet myself in excitement just thinking about that idea. Imagine what that thing would look like?
