Monsieur F1 (yes, I know he's unreliable) is reporting that Zoran Stefanović will soon finalise a deal with Marussia to take them over. To make the story even less believable, he also says Robert Kubica will return behind the wheel of a Formula One car for the winter test in January. He also posted a crude mockup of how the car will look.

VGuQf1n.jpg

(all credit to Monsieur F1)

Now, you might remember Stefan GP from their previous attempts to enter F1:

  • applying for the spot opened by FIA for 2015/2016 (eventually awarded to Haas and Forza Rossa);
  • trying to take over Marussia in early 2014 and get Rubens to drive;
  • applying for the 2011 spot vacated by USF1;
  • buying the Toyota TF110 chassis in 2010, trying to take over their entry, and get Kazuki Nakajima to drive (with Villeneuve, Ralf Schumacher, Maldonado, Klien, Karthikeyan and Chandhok also in the frame);
  • applying for one of the three spots opened by FIA for 2010 (eventually awarded to USF1, Campos and Manor);
  • attempting to take over MasterCard Lola in 1997;
  • attempting to enter outright in 1996;
  • attempting to enter with a joint Yugoslav-British project in 1988 and get Damon Hill to drive;
  • probably some others that I forgot to mention.

Although this will obviously not happen, I would love to see Stefanović succeed for once (even if the team would fold soon after) and then see a biopic about his many attempts. The story has Oscar material written all over it. I mean, he's been at it for nearly 30 years now, that's more than most of the faces you see in Formula One nowadays!

If the guy had the money to back an F1 entry he would have gotten in long time ago. It's cute he keeps trying, but ultimately, bunch of people will end up unpaid and miserable

He best attempt has to be 2010 when he already had the Toyota 2010 car ready. Rumours were that that car was also a pretty good one.

Haha it must be the end of the season, the usual story of Stefan GP being rehashed again.

If this happens I'll open a Twitter account.

I don't know whether Manor GP have actually got an entry for 2015. When the entry list was published they were subject to confirmation. I'm not sure what confirmation is required.

If Manor did have an F1 entry for 2015 and Stefanović then managed to buy the team. He'd certainly be a lot closer to having an F1 team than he has been before.

I believe confirmation is payment of the entry fee

Do we really need to give that Monsieur F1-dude any more attention than he deserves? Just browse through some of his tweets to see that he's a fool.

I never heard of that 1988 project. Is there any source or are there more details?

I doubt there would be a Sunday deadline for payment, but anyways, as far as I remember HRT before going belly up had asked for (and gotten) dispensation to delay payment of the entry fee in case they found a buyer ... it's possible Marussia/Caterham have asked for a similar special dispensation

As if the story wasn't believable enough as it was, the Kubica part makes no sense at all. Mecerdes and Ferrari have both offered him tests when he feels ready - why would he refuse these offers to test with a backmarker team that is struggling to survive?

That Monsieur F1 guy is a complete weirdo. Like seriously, he's sick in the head - months ago he was posting horrible things about Bianchi being dead and stuff like that. I would report this guy to Twitter, not actually post his stuff on a forum.

Stefan better get a move on because the Marussia administrators have advertised the auctioning of the whole kit and kaboodle on 16/17 December.  There is a whole page advert in the latest Motor Sport magazine.

Thanks for the link. The Marussia wind tunnel model of the 2015 car is shown in one of the pictures.

Mosieur F1 ? You mean the guy that said:

Hulkenberg was definitely joining Lotus in 2014

Eric Boullier staying with Lotus for 2014

Eric Boullier joining Force India in 2014

Perez Staying at McLaren in 2014

Esteban Gutierrez having a contract with Sauber for 2015

Perez joining Lotus for 2015

Alonso joining Mercedes in 2014 & 2015

Maldonado leaving F1 in 2014

pretty reliable...

Yeah, but I'd be impressed if even a clown like Monsieur F1 has this one wrong. Because if it isn't true, it'd be the first time in about 20 years that an F1 team has gone to the wall and Stefanovic hasn't shown an interest in taking it on. It's just that Stefanovic and Monsieur F1 have about as much credibility as each other, that's the problem.

Threads like these are pointless. Even if the information is solid, it turns into an one-upmanship battle of satire just from a man's name.

I don't think anyone's criticising anybody because of their name. But it's fair to take past actions into consideration, isn't it?

Perfectly believable i'd suggest, i believe he has used the Daily Mail Random Headline Generator tool ( http://www.qwghlm.co...toys/dailymail/ ) to create verify ;) this story.

Stefanovic did actually buy the Toyota F1 chassis when Toyota left F1 and Kazuki Nakajima event tested with it.

Nope, Nakajima did a shakedown for Toyota not Stefanovic. Stefanovic wanted to do a test in Portimao, but he wasn't granted F1 entry and therefore Bridgestone refused them a tyre supply (so the test never happened)

Is Stefan the bloke who posted four or so years ago and floated the idea of a fan-funded team? This guy went as far as lodging an entry.

In fairness, that guy (Stefan or not) was torn to bits on here for the idea, yet you had Caterham 'crowd funded' as they call it four years on and Brabham are in on it now. That kid may just have been one of those crazy pioneers who are just a tad too early with their amazing idea...

Edit: typo.

Stefanovich. Yeah, I remember that guy from past adventures. Unfortunately he is a dreamer, who will never get anything done at least related to F1. I don't know about his other businesses. But everything around him leaves an impression of "shady". He seems to be the kind of guy you should avoid if you want to co-operate with someone, because you can never completely trust and be sure he would get things done. :p

no different dude, that dude you 're talking about got his idea from this -> http://en.wikipedia..../MyFootballClub , he even used a similar naming scheme for the "project" (myF1dream)

The myF1dream dude downscaled to GP (www.myf1dream.com redirects to www.myGPdream.com)
