Stefanovic did actually buy the Toyota F1 chassis when Toyota left F1 and Kazuki Nakajima event tested with it.
Pretty sure the only place the 2010 Toyota ever drove under its own power was a slow demo around the carpark outside the Toyota facility.

I seem to recall that Stefanovic agreed to buy the Toyota cars etc. and Toyota even put a few of their employees to work getting the cars ready but in the end no money changed hands.

No, he said he had funding in place to get TMG to run the cars for him (so he would never have actually 'owned' the cars). Turned out his money was pretend however and the deal fell through.

If the guy had the money to back an F1 entry he would have gotten in long time ago. It's cute he keeps trying, but ultimately, bunch of people will end up unpaid and miserable
