Miles from anywhere, 'love hotels', bins not emptied from the previous year BUT I think it's a pretty decent track, there's certainly worse out there.

No! Why? It's just awful, awful, awful in every way imaginable. It is surely the epitome of the Tilkedrome.

I don't want to nit pick but it is rumoured that several guys employed by CVC Capitals do.

edit: I think I'll never get how one of those guys can say that the engines are too boring but still favour this track

21 GPs? November 29th?

Seems too much, especially if Mercedes dominates so heavily again. 17GPs was the perfect number, IMO.

As the word confirmed is used I'd assume so.

Korea and Spain back to back? That sounds like it will be a popular decision.

Going by the twitter responses the journalists are not impressed.

I've merged the threads that myself and Newbrray started as they were about the same topic.

Is the Mexican race a sure thing?

Have they started any of the work needed for that track yet?

This is why we can't have nice things... :|

Just need some other utterly pointless race like the Indian Grand Prix to be confirmed on the weekend of Le Mans.

Seriously, terrible idea. The calendar's far too long anyway that F1 doesn't need to be going to races where only one man and his dog turns up.

Given the time available (5 months) you'd surely have to assume they mean Yeongam. There isn't enough time to orgnaise the Seoul street race being mooted in some quarters, surely?

I imagine one or two of the other races must be in doubt. In particular, I wonder how Russia is looking given current events?

EDIT: hadn't clicked it was the Spa WEC, which Hulkenberg has signed up to. Presume CVC can't bear the thought of the value of the asset being diluted by F1 drivers perceiving worth in other series.

I'll never forget the first GP there. The entire sky looked so gloomy, the tarmac was still oily and Webber had a mega crash there.

Oh geez, modern Hockenheim isn't much better than all the other soulless tilkedromes. Worst European GP right now.

We said the same in the months leading up to this year's race, and it went ahead.

On the basis that Bernie is BFFL with Putin, it'll still go ahead come hell or high water I bet.

So basically Bernie prevents Hulkenberg from preparing himself 100% ahead of Le Mans by putting in the most pointless GP without money or audience on the same weekend as 6hrs of Spa.  ):

Once all the LMP1 seats for Le Mans have gone to non-F1 drivers, Bernie can cancel the Korean GP.

Assuming the race will actually go ahead, is there still time for rescheduling the WEC Spa race maybe?

On this list it says Hockenheim as venue for German GP. Gutted as I was planning a trip to the Nurburgring this season. Not really a fan of the modern Hockenheimring.

Y'know, I tend to cut Bernie a lot of slack because he is, and always has been after the money.

I may not like his methods, but his end game has always been the dollars.

*If* this is his doing, and *if* it's just to prevent a driver, or two max, competing in the WEC then I'm afraid that's just spite. I do wonder sometimes, how long the dude, and his triple bypassed heart can last...

Although it was a complete white elephant of a track, it had good racing at least at times. Saying that, I struggle to remember anytihng memorable about Korean races - beyond Webber's muddy end in 2010 and the Jeep wanting to be an F1 car and I really can't see what value it adds to the calendar. Korea and China should alternate each year - it will help their crowds for a start.

21 races though? Thats 40% of the year's weekends involving F1. That will really water down viewing figures. I am a fanatic and try to schedule my social life, even holidays, to try to not miss races, but its just impossible at that level.

*YAAWWN*

There are too many GP's in the modern calendar and reinstating this awful circuit doesn't do anything to change my opinion on that front.

Korea is quite the surprise. Is there enough time to homologate a new street circuit around Seoul? Or are we really going back to Yeongam, which was probably the most unpopular location since Detroit.

Wouldn't Korea and Bahrain been better the other way around? For transportational purposes?

Melbourne and Malaysia should return to being back to back as well. A lot of people have been unhappy about the start of the calendar in recent years.

When will India, Turkey, Imola return?

Probably never.

It's far, far too long. The early races just seem like a pointless slog given how far off the end of the season is.

16 is the optimum, surely?

And they've moved China to clash with the Silverstone WEC round

(sorry just angry about that for personal reasons as I'm going to the WEC Silverstone race but that means I'll have to miss watching the F1 race :( - ah well, another year of trying to peer in Porsche's motorhome at their giant TV screen)

Indeed, I reached the watershed moment a couple of seasons ago where I found that declining invites to other things just to watch the GP was becoming far too common for my own good. So, I started missing them.

Now I don't really care about missing them. I still have Monza on my DVR unwatched.

There was a time when I wouldn't miss a single session!

I don't get why everyone is assuming its not at Nurburgring - its not confirmed from that FIA meeting where it will be held so why is everyone assuming its changed from what it was supposed to be??? (unless I'm missing something really obvious?)

The main F1 site just has it as being to be confirmed and there is no comment on the location from that meeting today (at least that's been published).

It obviously hasn't been confirmed, but a previous poster posted a link that had it as Hockenheim. Hopefully it's an oversight on that websites part!

I like Korea, although it's more in my 10-15 range.

Disappointed that we have a 21-race calendar though - it's all getting too much! I too thought 17-19 was a perfect amount.

Re: Korea - I really wouldn't miss that race. It's a very boring, nondescript track like Sochi. It's one of those tracks where you can't tell which part of the circuit a driver is when you're watching the onboards.

Actually I just realised Korea is a week before Spain - that's mad logistically! Although I suppose a flight to spain is only a few hours more than a flight to China, but still in terms of the poor guys who have to pack everything, run over to Europe, then unpack in the space of 3 days its almost unhuman.

Therefore I'm more inclined to believe its Bernie putting drivers off doing the Spa race and then the GP will be quietly withdrawn pre-season.... and I'm not one for conspiracy theories like that. But otherwise it just makes no sense.

And May gets twice as much rain as October in that region...

This is my ideal calendar:

...and if they had to add more rounds, I would rather they put Turkey back on the calendar than Korea.

15 March                    AUS                 Grand Prix of Australia

29 March                    MYS                 Grand Prix of Malaysia

12 April                       CHN                  Grand Prix of China

19 April                       BHR                  Grand Prix of Bahrain

10 May                        ESP                 Grand Prix of Spain

24 May                        MCO                Grand Prix of Monaco

7 June                         CAN                 Grand Prix of Canada

21 June                       AUT                 Grand Prix of Austria

5 July                          GBR                 Grand Prix of Great Britain

19 July                        DEU                 Grand Prix of Germany

26 July                        HUN                 Grand Prix of Hungary

23 August                   BEL                  Grand Prix of Belgium

6 September               ITA                    Grand Prix of Italy

20 September            SGP                 Grand Prix of Singapore

27 September            JPN                  Grand Prix of Japan

25 October                 USA                 Grand Prix of USA (Austin)

1 November               MEX                 Grand Prix of Mexico

15 November             BRA                 Grand Prix of Brazil

29 November             ARE                 Grand Prix of Abu Dhabi

Also, why is Canada still in the middle of European season? With 3 rounds in North America from next year, it would surely make logistical sense to place them all around the Autumn?

Suzuka is midseason basically now ):, them and Brazil should always be the last two.

Korea, Sochi, Abu Dhabi can go to hell honestly, one is worse than another.

And strange that the Monza race won't be in NFL week 1, it was always one of the best Sundays of the year.

21 now, you know that they're bound to say '16 will need 22 to accommodate the European GP....
