Yeah, CVC never heard of that old adage about nuclear holocausts and cockroaches

So is his.
And he has more

Plenty of people have tried to get the better of Bernie Ecclestone over the years but most of them have come a poor second. Poor in every sense of that word.

Bernie will just buy it back if he's threatened

Bernie will just buy it back if he's threatened
doubt he has the 10 billion it would cost, and at 84 doubt he can finance it

The quoted article in the Financial Times: http://www.ft.com/cm...144feabdc0.html

"In particular, Mr Mackenzie was worried about F1's digital, commercial and PR strategy," the Financial Times added, saying Ecclestone could be retained "in an honorary capacity".
"Mr Ecclestone said that was not a role he envisaged," Blitz noted
.What a very tactful way of putting it.

lol, whatever happens.. it's only a matter of time until something changes. He can't live forever and he isn't exactly a spring chicken.
He should be somewhere enjoying himself and relaxing but playing the F1/political game is his way of relaxing. I guess compared to that, everything else in life would be boring. But you can't live forever. Regardless of how much money you have.

He's not a dwarf.
He's a midget

For Rial? That is Trulli amazing :-)

He's not a dwarf.
He's a midget
While malignant midget has great alliteration, malignant dwarf creates much more sinister images in my head.

be careful what you wish for, its still the same owners (investors) and they will still be looking for maximum returns on their investment just as any other investor demands in these unfettered capitalist times.
returns today not a business tomorrow is the tune business dances to and F1 is a business first, sport a very lowly second

*Idle Speculation*
I wonder how much fight Bernie has left in him?
It seems out of character for him to roll over into an honorary role, unless he really does realise his time is almost up...
Unless...
I recall some years ago there was some controversy when Bernie trademarked "GP1".
I wonder whether he might look to leave his role, use GP1 and any other cards he has in his pockets to destabilise F1 from the outside, and then launch an aggressive bid to buy and "save" F1.
Using someone else's money, of course...

It's the nattering nabobs of negativism like you that got us into this mess!

Former Diageo boss Paul Walsh rules himself out of the running to become F1's next chairman http://bbc.in/1zp1ypE
The ex-Diageo boss met Ecclestone last Thursday and his decision to pull out of the running will be seen as a victory for the 84-year-old F1 ringmaster, who last week told the BBC that he saw F1 lawyer Sacha Woodward-Hill as a suitable replacement.
"She'd be a safe pair of hands," said Ecclestone of the general counsel to the Formula 1 group of companies - effectively its chief legal officer

Times puts the blame on CVC - says they lacked the balls to replace Ecclestone entirely and Walsh wanted all the power or nothing.

You ever dealt with poultry? I get some wild turkey in my yard, not the kind you can drink. It's pretty cool to see. Surprisingly big too. But man, the amount of **** in my driveway...

There's a message too:

Bernie's 2014 Xmas card arrived in the post this morning. It's a good 'un... #F1)

Is there any significance to the name of the bank?
"Mandarin Oriental Munich"
I would expect so from Bernie.
Posted 19 December 2014 - 19:45
I don't mind him having his little joke. It cost him $100 million so I hope he feels really Christmassy about it.
Looking forward to you putting your feet up in retirement in 2015, Bernie. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Except that it could.
