I see from the Lister Cars Twitter feed that Brian Lister passed away this morning.

A great shame, but 88 is a decent life when you leave such a legacy for others to enjoy.

Very sad to hear.  My condolences to friends and family.

I always think of the cars as "Blisters" because of his name...  (As in blisteringly quick)

Absolutely one of the most pleasant, genuine and respectable gentlemen ever to have graced the motor racing arena. Most sincere condolences to his widow Jose and his family and friends.

Seconded - his obit. was not a document to which I had looked forward to writing. But he was tickled pink at the re-invention of Lister Cars. Never a demonstrative man, he was quietly thrilled at the results.

RIP, bless him...

The Telegraph has a brief but eloquent obituary:

At times on TNF queries have been raised about the details etc of the Lister Climax F2 car. Now might be a pertinent time to draw your attention to 25 glorious shots, bodywork off stuff, of the Lister F2 taken by the redoubtable George Phillips, seemingly at its launch.
These are easily seen on the wonderful REVS Institute archive website under George Phillips. The easiest way to get to them is simply to enter Lister F2 in the search box, top left on the home page. Marvellous shots. Otherwise simply enjoy scrolling though Mr Phillps' entire archive there, well worth the effort, not least for a shot of the twin carb crossflow head on a Mini/Cooper at the Motoring Writers' test day in 1960 or 61. A true treasure trove, as are the other collections.
Usual disclaimer, and with sadness at the news of Mr Lister's parting. O/T a bit, check out the Paul Skilleter book on the Lister Marque. Mr Lister was the key source, so top stuff.
