This is a joke, right? Throwing hundreds of millions of technical investment into the bin for no reason?
For no reason? Did you notice that...
... TV ratings dropped massively this year?
2013:
2014:
... TV stations want to reduce their fees because of the declining ratings? (lower fees = less money for the teams)
... interest in F1 declined this season?
... ticket sales dropped this year?
... most people hate the V6 sound?
... most people are not interested in the technical or green aspect of F1 - except of freaks like us who post in a F1 forum? ... they just want to get entertained and enjoy F1 as a sport.
... we got Honda (which left F1 5 or 6 times in the past when they were not competitive) but lost Marussia and Catherham, and it's very likely that we will lose Sauber next year because of the expensive engines?
So please let me ask you: Do you really think Mercedes / Renault / Honda will stay in F1 (invest hundred of millions) if stands are empty and TV ratings are down? Do you think F1 will attract any new manufacturer under the above mentioned circumstances? Do you think private traditional teams can survive with even less money?
Do you really think there is NO reason to even consider throwing hundreds of millions in the bin now but saving F1's future?
