And these guys are supposed to be potential F1 stars of the future? Christ, I wouldn't trust most of them to drive a shopping trolley safely.

A well deserved win by the safety car driver. And some classic racing in the last few minutes of race 2.
Otherwise, a disgrace, by both drivers and race control.

Night and day, isn't it? Ocon and Verstappen were just a cut above this year's competitors. Whilst wheel-to-wheel action shouldn't be discouraged, enough is enough. The FIA needs to start banning people who drive dangerously.
actually in Spa was not behaving much different then this year drivers it was Max who was more alert. But yeah overall they where much better and allowed some breathing, except in Ocons home race where Ocon really should have been punished.
I think they have been looking and just thinking i need to drive like Max and Ocon but lack the feeling to how far you can go.

Stroll needs another race out to think about his driving, I see!

Well, he excluded himself from the race pretty well. Some things never change - it reminded me of Burti's attempt to push his British F3 championship rival Marc Hynes into the wall at Sliverstone 1999. Of course, race control was tougher then, and Burti was rightly DQ'd.

bar that everyone else manged to behaved themshevles and that came at the start of the race, in fact i wonder if Stoll is watching a replay of the start. we now also know the cause of the championship leader crash that brought the title race back wide open

Who was the idiot that moved from one side of the track to the other? The other two really had nowhere to go with that bonehead move.

3 consecutive caution periods in the final race. Remind me why this championship pays so many superlicence points again?
Because if you can be champion in this series, you have proved your ability to avoid the most dangerous drivers in any series?

Just caught up on the 3 Zandvoort races on YouTube, loving how the championship is shaping up. I really can't call it between the top 3.
I really feel uncomfortable when the commentators refer to Rosenqvist and Giovinazzi as veterans though, I don't care if Rosenqvist has been driving F3 cars for a zillion years, they're 23 and 21. Twenty three and twenty one.

Back on topic, Stroll excluded from Monza race 3, though it only costs him 1 point: http://www.autosport...t.php/id/120143

just a heads up, very wet at the mo in red bull ring so that could be a issue. one of the supports just had a brands hatch style crash which brought the race to a red flag and no restart.

Edit Never mind 1 lap under the safety car and red flagged again and result declared. Best. Race. Ever.

What a disgrace.. What was the whole point of red flagging it, restarting it behind the safety car with just minutes to go with no hope of getting racing laps in and red flagging it again..?
#274
Posted 02 August 2015 - 12:00
Red flagged again after one lap behind the safety car. And that seems to be the end of the "race".

want would you have done? that was a waste of time and if i was Motorstv i change the TV plans as there is no racing to show.

What happened there?
Not sure, he just abruptly left in the middle of the weekend. This is what the team said:
“We are saddened for the end of the long-time relationship with Brandon, who scored brilliant results with us in the Italian Formula 3 Championship and in the Italian Formula 4 series last year,” said Prema team boss Rene Rosin.
“I wish Brendon a successful future in his next career endeavours.”

Wreckless f3 drivers in the wet around Austria, I predict nothing but carnage...... I mean greatness
They would've been reckless, certainly not wreckless!
(I only comment on spelling when it's funny, apologies)

Rosenqvist takes the triple and becomes champion, amid a wreckfest in the third race with 4 safety car periods.
#290
Posted 27 September 2015 - 12:30
Rosenqvist's time from his debut in F3 to winning the title is longer than the time from Hamilton's and Vettel's debuts in F3 to their winning the F1 World Championship. It's not exactly a ringing endorsement of the staircase.

He should have moved on in 2013 after finishing runner-up, but I guess funding issues prevented that. Another single-seater driver off to DTM by the looks of it.

More carnage in the finale at Hockenheim, no less than 4 safety cars for various collisions and debris. You'd think on a wide open Tilkedrome these drivers could avoid contact. Then again, based on the F4 races it was inevitable...
#293
Posted 18 October 2015 - 14:42
I wonder if all that runoff, because Hockenheim is basically an autocross track now, just encourages low percentage-but-low penalty moves.
#294
Posted 18 October 2015 - 17:07
If they had enforced my favoured drive through for each track limits infringement rule, there would have been more cars in the pits than there were people in the stands.
#295
Posted 18 October 2015 - 17:11
there were two other issues, both invole people not obeying the safety car rules of slow down and not overtake, two such issues came, both cleany shown by the tv replays. i thought there might have been pens handed out by now bearing in mind that was the last race of the championship

To me it looked like half the field was still racing for position well into at least two of the safety car periods. Just crazy.

Well, this is what's going to happen while the penalties for bad racing are so asinine. Nerf someone into the tyres and you get 20s? Sorry, that's beyond any rational sense whatsoever. A licence to punt.

It's only 10 seconds less than in the top series if Kimi is any guide...
