Hamilton will replace Vettel at Ferrari one day.

It's amazing how many people, after how the Merc moved turned out and how much inside knowledge he turned out to know about Merc's development, still doubt that Hamilton desires winning above everything else.

He will sign for whoever he thinks will be most competitive. If he does move away from Merc, I have every confidence he will be moving to a championship contending team.

I'm not sure what to think tbh. I think it's most likely he will stay at Merc even though the issues surrounding his contract are a cause for concern, didn't they both say it was a formality? Should he win again next season (something I think he will do) then I could see him potentially wanting to seek out new challenges and, personally, I've always thought he might harbour the desire to win in a Williams. I would love to see him race for a competitive Williams.

Do I think he will go to Ferrari? Maybe at some point but not 2016. McLaren? Again maybe but not 2016.

He recently said he sees himself in F1 for at least 7 more years, so he must envision a slight plan in his head for where he wants to go.

I'm almost certain he'll end with a final year at McLaren.

That leaves 5 years in between this and then to get stuff done...

Williams were very close to signing him around 2004-2005 after his brief departure from McLaren, were they not? So he does have a slight affliction with them. I'm sure he'd love to work with Frank, however we must remember the Wolff element

And Ferrari, well... Ferrari is Ferrari. There aren't, if any, drivers on the grid right now who are as "no compromise, flat out speed" as Lewis. He'd suit Ferrari down to the ground, no politics, no delicate setup window, just pure, unadulterated, Scuderia pace every time he got in the car.

I'd be disappointed if Lewis went to Ferrari tbh, I'd find it very difficult to support him driving the red car.

No way, I'd love to see Hamilton achieve what Alonso couldn't at Ferrari.

He did say recently"I can't see myself anywhere else. I never had dreams of driving for Ferrari. Of course, the car looks nice in red. But I can buy red Mercedes cars, it's no problem."

Which does sound rather ominous. Part of it is PR speak, but he's mentioned his indifference before. Maybe one day he'll feel the magic.

He surely has to go to at least one more team in the next 7 years though. Another 4 years at Merc and then 3 at McLaren (or vice versa, or heck, any combo that makes 7) just doesn't seem to flow very well. Maybe Rosberg departing could change that slightly, but he surely has one more new team left in him.

Williams would be cool too... unless Toto went back there at the same time  :rotfl:
