Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen are two of the superstars of the last decade of Formula One. They have combined for 59 grand prix victories since 2003 and between them have won five of the last eight drivers' championships.

Now, they are team-mates at Ferrari.

And so, here we are. Ferrari have two very good drivers coming off down years. They are also friends.

"We try to beat each other all the time, but we can have fun and get things done in a good way," Raikkonen said, per Autosport's Jonathan Noble, after Vettel was announced as his new team-mate.

Both men will also have to overcome their struggles with the new technical regulations introduced for 2014, which meant less aerodynamic downforce, more torque from the new engines and a new brake-by-wire system.

After a large-scale culling of the team at the end of last year, 2015 will be a rebuilding season for the Scuderia. Victories are not expected.

They will be in the near future, though. And in the meantime, we can enjoy what should be an entertaining duel between two world champions—although we thought that about Raikkonen and Alonso last year too.

I hope it's not too soon to start this thread?  It is 2015 after all!

I am really looking forward to seeing these two drivers restore their reputations and Ferrari's too.  I don't really care which of them scores the most points, as long as both score enough to bring the team out on top (or as near as possible).  I'm not expecting any fireworks at the first race, but I am hoping for steady progress from the team and the drivers, with the occasional podium, especially in the 2nd part of the season.

Your thoughts?  Are we in for a treat or will it be more of the same?  I think that if the tyres are less conservative, we will definitely see an improvement.

I guess there is nothing to be said before FP1. Even testing brings no valuable information.

Way to early, but I like your attempt at trying to not make it a 'verses' thread. Can't imagine it will be any more friendly than those in previous years once the season kicks off though. (unfortunately).

I'm predicting Kimi won't like the car.

But seriously, versus threads aren't allowed prior to the date apparently. I've seen this one locked previously.

Too soon, the VS topics are not allowed until the season starts. Last year they let us open this topics a couple of days before FP1.

Thread title should be.... "Some link to a story I found on the internet".

Imagine if everybody did that!

I have been waiting for Vettel to come to Ferrari for years, I don't think this season will be spectacular in terms of results but I am very much looking forward to it anyway!

fun fact, Ferrari along with LotusF1 will be the only 2 teams with 2 Dad's driving for them.

also,  IIRC, they'll have the dads of a boy and a girl as team mates.

Last year Ferrari was the only team with 2 divorced drivers.

I don't see why it has to descend into the kind of animosity which prevailed in the FA vs KR thread last year.

Well I hope it doesn't (and not just the Ferrari thread but the Merc drivers thread was just as bad and I think the McLaren one this year has the possibility of going in the same direction ). I may visit and chat if it remains civil as I enjoy discussing the drivers races and stratagies etc but I have no interest in assigning 'points' to a driver which is what these threads usually descend into - its possible for both drivers to have good (or bad) races without having to argue the morale winner, but its pretty much just me who thinks like this so I will probably avoid it at all costs once the season kicks off and the bickering resumes.

Aren't I cheerful and full of optimism this evening :p

I think there is a big overlap in the fanbases of the 2 drivers, that alone will make this topic a lot more bearable than the usual "two well separated sides having a desperate fight on a daily basis" show that is usually going on in the vs threads.

 We shall see...from what I saw last year, some of the Kimi fans have a hard time looking reality in the face when they're losing, and in the process will dig for any reason in the book (even if completely unfounded) to discredit and nullify a gap between another driver....in the process, undermining the other drivers ability and achievements. Then it turns into vicious cycle of put downs, frustration, attack, etc...cheap entertainment at least (at least for me)  :p
