Preview of Checos helmet, I think this is the first actual 2015 helmet we've seen.
Also could be a hint at the new Force India colors, I look forward to what everyone finds.

Perez's helmet is a complete mess. A strange mishmash of colours that don't match with no real pattern going on either.

From the bottom up until the Claro logo I think it's quite nice. From the top of the visor upwards is a complete mess though, ruined it :'(

I guess the silver was a hint at the new car colors

Ugly helmet design to be honest.

Saubers major backer on Marciellos helmet, a good chance we'll see quiet a bit of yellow on the car.
It will be a nice addition of color to the grid if it happens.

Marciello, Fuoco, Vergne, Gutiérrez, Räikkönen... All of them wearing Bell helmets this year. It's quite surprising after Schuberth is gone now everyone will switch supplier. (Except Vettel, I'm quite sure he will stick with Arai.)

How do people lean on the looks of a helmet? Does it need to look good sitting on a table or look good in the car?
I kind of lean toward the look in the car.
Posted 23 January 2015 - 20:27
In car for me, but even at half scale on a shelf Arai just looks the bomb.
Posted 23 January 2015 - 20:29
I think most of them are designed to look good on the designer's table. There's so much detail in them you never see unless you get a decent sized studio photo.

The drivers want the detail most of the time, it's not just a designer decision, even if you advise making a design simpler. It's just the 'in' style.

Kimi/Vergne/Gutierrez all prefer Bell (Kimi switched for 2013, before going to Ferrari) Vergne has always worn Bell as has Gutierrez, more drivers are switching because the Bell currently is the newest, and best helmet in F1. The Arai GP6 has been around for a few years now, its my personal favourite shape, but the Bell HP7 is better.
Eagerly anticipating Fernando's new lid, wondering if he will switch back to Arai (hope he does/McLaren sponsor) or go full circle to Bell. He won't be wearing Schuberth that's for sure.

Are Schuberth fully gone then?

Why did they leave? I couldn't find anything on google.

Massa/Rosberg usually wear Schuberth too.

I guess only their exclusive deal with Ferrari has expired?
Indeed, Rosberg, Hulkenberg and Massa still use a Schuberth.

Exactly. They were official suppliers of Ferrari since the Schumacher era, but it seem their partnership ended, so Ferrari drivers can use other brands as well.

Nice to see Hulkenberg sticking with his design, at the moment it's one of the more distinctive helmets among the sea of overcomplicated generic ones.
Posted 26 January 2015 - 19:24
Hulkenberg's still a Schuberth from that pic, so surely they are not completely gone?
D'oh! Never noticed that.

When I designed my helmet I decided I wanted it to be red with two big white-ish fields so that it would be recognizable from a long distance. It also incorporates some black and white shadows and detail, but I wanted it to look distinct from a distance.
I know many drivers don't think of this at all. Some design's I've seen through the years has been impossible to even determine a dominant color.
Edit: I think Hamiltons yellow helmet is the best helmet in recent years, together with Alonsos. They stand out from the cars

Schuberth is now an official supplier of @MercedesAMGF1 and will provide a new pit crew helmet - which will be sold for winter sport use

I'm glad they are staying, I like the brand, and the SF1 as well. I know some people will disagree, but I prefer its look compared to the Arai and Bell.
It will be interesting to see how this move will affect Hamilton's choice of helmet brand.

I highly doubt LH will use a Schuberth but we will find out very soon. Looking forward to seeing what colours he will use for 2015. Stick with white / back to yellow / new colours (rumour of dark red/purple). Personally like to see him go back to yellow.

Hope he doesn't switch, I like the Arai's

Personally, I loved Lewis' lid from 2014. Hope he keeps it.

Lewis tried a Schuberth in the winter before 2010 (i think, or it may have been 09) for one or two test days then it disappeared. Don't think he was a fan. Webber had one at Williams too and wasn't a fan of that either.

I think Webber wore one in 2008 also.

Was posted on reddit. Could be rubbish but Lewis' favourite colour is dark red I think and his Zonda is purple.
Just seen Epson will be on the helmet visors for Merc boys. Maybe Petronas will be on the halo instead?

Where will Monster Energy go?

They may stay on the halo. I'm just guessing but if Petronas do get the halo then Monster could be on the chin.
Another possibility is Hugo Boss will be on the chin like they were on McLaren helmets.

The EPSON logos could be placed as was Isofoton back in 2012.

I saw a photo of Rosberg posted by Mercedes the other day (it was from last season) but the Monster looked like it had been blurred out?
Maybe the deal ended, also does anyone know how long the BlackBerry deal was?
Posted 28 January 2015 - 15:27
Blackberry was a 3 year deal (so 1 more year) not sure about Monster Energy.

I wonder if Button will have a simple black and white design? I'm sure he used a similar one during testing for BAR/Honda back in the mid 00s. Looked quite cool.

Great lids for the McLaren guys, really like Jenson's. Finally a clean crisp design that's not too busy, like that shade of red too.

Nope, it's a Schuberth.
