The 2015 nose regualtion will make this protrusion a default unfortunately.
The Mercedes- U-shaped structure has been banned as a result of which aerodynamics will push teams in the direction of this protrusion.
A pity.

Here we go again. 2014 nose wars reloaded.

I don't understand why they can't come up with a regulation that prohibits those nipples/penises extending from the nose.

they tried, that is the result.

Difficult to see but it looks like Williams has adopted the W05 style front lower wishbones.
#11
Posted 20 January 2015 - 18:53
the front wing looks like a piece from a jigsaw
#12
Posted 20 January 2015 - 18:53
I've coined it the 'nipple nose' Scarbs and BadgerGP prefer thumb nose which does sound a bit nicer so I'll go with that. All teams hold have similar noses this year according to Scarbs.

Last year the rendering on the same magazine (iirc) turned out to be an actual car, which means it's highly likely this is indeed how 37 will actually look like...which I hope not
doesnt matter much if it's fast tho

Sigh sigh sigh.
As someone above mentioned, a jigsaw piece. It's like a 5 year old played "pin the puzzle piece on the car" and this is what happened.
FFS!
Nice to see a car though.

I was hoping for a slight revision of the livery, looks like Rexona on the sidepod with the number moved onto the bargeboard.

Dont know what all the fuss abouth the nose is? The nose is better looking than most of the last year noses, or is it just me??
#17
Posted 20 January 2015 - 19:02
nose is ok for me but that back is quite radical esp. mounting of rw
#18
Posted 20 January 2015 - 19:03
Finally a 2015 car yayy
Though it is still ugly

Looks like a nice evolution from the FW36 which as we know was a fast car so if this even quicker stuff the nose.
#21
Posted 20 January 2015 - 19:16
Should look better from the side but it looks like another year of c*ck noses.........
#22
Posted 20 January 2015 - 19:24
The nose is not as bad as last years'.
But if they introduce new nose regulations primarily for restricting ugly noses, and this is what we still end up with, well...
#23
Posted 20 January 2015 - 19:27
Try telling everybody but, oh no.
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Go home!
Sweet eh!
#24

Looks fast

Good to see the FIA did a great job rewriting the regulations to get rid of the penis noses!
Oh wait..

Well maybe the FIA should regulate even more then
But then again this forum would get pissed at that as well so there's that
#29

Face palm at the FIA. Again.

Is this official?

F1 racing mag got the scoop on the Williams 2014 car, so no reason to think this isn't the new car
They future Pat Symonds a lot so Im guessing that's how they got their scoop
#32

Is this official?
I think, that it is genuine render and could be real deal. Last year were spot on.
#33
Posted 20 January 2015 - 20:02
So the penises this year will be a tad smaller. We are heading in the right direction then.
#34
Posted 20 January 2015 - 20:08
re nose i see it as enlarged clit
#35
Posted 20 January 2015 - 20:10
To be honest, that is more ugly than the nose on last years Williams.

Never mind the nose, how the hell is that rear wing mounted?!
#38
Posted 20 January 2015 - 20:14
Why they all dont just copy Mercedes? They have proved last year you can have a good penisless aerodynamics in the car.

Because the Merc nose isn't legal anymore

Like last year, with a mini beam wing: http://www.formula1....014/0/1140.html

Too much white again, they need to get better at liveries, nose show the whole nose discussion was yet another futile exercise in getting nowhere on an issue which did not exist.

What I can't understand is why the FIA don't do anything about the front wings? I'm sure the teams spend hundreds of millions of euros each year developing these overcomplicated monstrosities that can't be used for anything else. For what? They coud make it a lot simpler, like; "the front wing consists of one a single straight element no bigger than 0.5 square meter". The rear wing could be max two wing elements with a maximum combined area of 1.0 square meter.

The car looks good to me, the nose pretty much as expected.

You do realize that you'll make the cars slower in the process?

That nose, is f******* hideous. Wow FIA, wow.
#46
Posted 20 January 2015 - 21:02
If all front wings are like the Williams, it appears the entire field will be more vulnerable to carnage.
#47
Posted 20 January 2015 - 21:05
Just tear the damn rule book and start over. There is no other way.

Yup and a lot less aerodynamic grip is only a good thing. Should be compensated with huge rear tyres to give more mechanical grip and create drag - together with more bhp (no fuel flow restriction, higher turbopressure ++ = 1.000 bhp).
