Hello to all :) :)

I have finally managed to update my page, after it was converted to a website by Autumn last year. However, several troubles delayed my initiative till I, more than a year later and several more writing, present you today with the first totally finished work... I was thinking honestly about a brand new driver, but as John Haugland was the first article I wrote planned to be released on the web and with a refined language, I chose to start with it. Hope you enjoy the works I'll publish in the future. In due time, more sections will appear.

Well done Guilherme. I remember at the time thinking that Alfie could perhaps become a bit of a star but unfortunately it wasn't to be :(

Now that's the moment for the winner of the fateful Spa round of 1987, and another victim of the dreadful weekend at Brands Hatch in 1988, Michel Trollé - http://www.motorraci...ered-at-brands/

Hello to all

I'm definitively back, with a renewed website and back to its original name. Mike Thackwell was always a story that inspired me and I find some similarities between his and mine hsitory for personal reasons, so it's a fitting way to restart for good my website with an extensive work about him: http://www.motorraci...ungest-quitter/

Hi, enjoyed the article on Mike Thackwell; a driver who I have always admired and who has intrigued me. Reading through this thread I tried to read the article on Lars Erik Toroh but I can’t access it?

Any reason why Gaillard retired so early?  He could have had a very decent career in sportscars.

I think he had no money to pursue a regular career and he was disappointed for not have landed a reasonable seat. Even Kremer only appeared after a sabbatical year, but the ideal would be speak directly with him. I haven't his contact yet.

Now, Richard Dallest, whose career was often intertwined with Gaillard's - http://www.motorraci...-is-not-enough/

I enjoyed the articles on Gaillard and Dallest. Along with Mike Thackwell these show that being talented isn't enough to succeed.

I chuckled at the description of the March 792 as "crap". A fair description but having seen Thackwell and de Cesaris in action with these cars the main problem appeared to be weight. As David Oxton found with the Chevron B29 3 years earlier, F2 spec cars were too heavy to be competitive in F Atlantic/Pacific.

The AGS F2 cars were transformed in the rain. I saw several F2 races in 1984 and went to Brands Hatch for the last race expecting to see another demonstration run by Mike Thackwell. Philippe Streiff in the AGS won by more than a minute. Thackwell retired early on but Moreno only managed 3rd in the other Ralt. A switch to Bridgestone tyres hobbled the Ralts.

Many Thanks!!!! You're right, problem was weight, the cars weren't suited at all to the Formula. Relatively to AGS, they had great handling, and with rain many times they surprised everyone.

Oxton bought the F2 chassis used by Brian Redman in NZ during Jan 1976. In his words from the Tasman book "We had bought a F2 Chevron B29 for year one which turned out to be too heavy compared with the later B34 Chevron and RT1 chassis." After the 1977 international series he updated and lightened the car which made it more competitive.

Hello to all!!

With the publication of this article, I close the work of re-publication of every article I had ready. As you may know, only Mike Thackwell and Mark Rosnick's photo gallery were entirely new to you, the remaining articles were posted somewhere both on the website or on the old blog. Now I'll prepare some new or deeply reworked articles, obviously with less frequency. Hope you have enjoyed and keep reading.

Best Regards

Hello!!!

I've updated my website again and I'll post here each time I post a new article. This time, it is a first version of an article I am doing about Tony Pond, one of the best rallymen ever:
