Probably won't win this war either..

Horner's not going to win the best Brit award anytime soon... certainly not on this forum. Dare i say, some Brits here may be more vociferously against that chap than the French.

Is there some credence in this split turbo thing that Merc ran away with last year.

Now, for clarification, I have very little knowledge when it comes to the intricacies of turbos, but Merc stated that it took them some considerable time to develop the long shaft split turbo design. Is it possible that Renault and/or Ferrari could have woven some magic, with the knowledge/idea gleaned from Merc, and come up with a split turbo design in a much shorter time frame? Could they have in the last say 10 or 11 months developed the split turbo functionality within the tokens available to them?

Anyone with expert knowledge?

Or was the advantage of the split turbo just a myth?

Can we not just mandate a drag race at the test days.

30mph, 4th gear rolling start. Smash the gas, publish the results - done.

Stick it in the rules. Who is interested in the speculation? Wouldn't the fun be if you knew the characteristics and contextualise the racing?

Err, no. I read that as the French bringing in the British to help them fix the problem. IIRC Ilmor were brought in after it became clear Renault had built a lemon. Mid 2014 there were plenty of rumours floating around that Red Bull might be looking to Ilmor to be the company used to build their own engine once the Renault contract expires.

It would make sense those rumours started as a tangent from the truth - that RBR brought Ilmor and Renault together to help maximise the chance of Renault closing the gap.

Blaming the English is totally correct, as we did build and design the Merc car and engine after all  :p

So by that logic, going from 850bhp to 1000bhp will be worth at least 1.5 minutes per lap.....

Now come on, we all know that it's not a linear progression. Only a minute I think

Never let facts get in the way of an argument.

To be fair, an estimate is not a fact

The Red Bull was clearly down in horsepower, but it was very strong in other areas. They also had a better driver line-up than Williams, which greatly helped them net 2nd in the constructors standings.

Right... what an utter ponce he was, won only 91 GP's and 7 titles. Obviously Ferrari were idiots to not hire Yoong and kept overpaying Schumcher.

I think his point was more to highlight how strong the Ferrari cars were in early to mid 00's. Even if they did have the best driver (which they did)
