Can anybody identify exactly when the roll hoop was modified on 006/2 (the base of the hoop and the brace bar mounting became visable through the bodywork), and more specifically, why it was modified while 005, 006, and even the short lived 006/3 retained the original type?

Photographic evidence suggests that the roll hoop mod' was done between the 1973 and 1974 seasons. So, either there was a "comfort" problem for a driver (though both Patrick and Jody used the chassis in early '74), a safety mod, the hoop does appear wider, but the other cars weren't converted, the fuel tank was enlarged (why? it was big enough before), or was 006/2 stretched a bit to make it a bit more driver friendly for the new boys? But again, why just one chassis?
