The way the 1999 European Grand Prix unfolded always remains special in my heart. I have re-watched this race multiple times after it had taken place, and it is always special to watch.
Agreed. I remember getting a little teary-eyed for Marc Gene when he had a look of utter defeat when retiring from 4th or 5th place in the Minardi, at a point in their history when they hadn't finished in the points for many years.
My other moments- Everyone mentioned Brazil '08 already. Massa was/is my favorite since Michael left Ferrari at the end of '06, and seeing his utter dejection while getting out of the car was bitterly disappointing, to the extent that I got choked up. Same was true for MSC's engine failure at Suzuka '06. That ruined my night.
Goosebumps moments? Every time I stepped off the subway and heard the cars coming out of the pits for 1st practice in Montreal during the V10 era. Those engines echoing over the St. Lawrence are something I can't even put into words. Every hair on my body stood up.
Same for Button winning at Montreal in '11. I was in a grandstand at the hairpin, and the cheer that went up when he passed Sebastian was immense. Fantastic moment. Same as when Alesi got (IIRC) 5th place in a Prost in '01, he did donuts in front of us and the crowd went nuts.

Fernando alonso, nearly every race from Mayalsia onwards in 2012, never seen a season driven so well.

Agree with that, never was a Button fan but his start of that season was awesome

That was Luca Badoer. He was kneeling by the side of the car in tears when he retired from fourth place.
Gene finished sixth and brought a point home for Minardi - they'd had a drought of four years since Pedro Lamy got one at Adelaide in 1995.

Good call, it was Badoer indeed! Definitely some consolation for the team when Gene got a point, but I really felt for Luca.
This was another moment for me (and my pic). It happened right in front of us and all the fans at the corner were silent until we saw movement in his feet and hands. It was maybe a few seconds but it felt like years before we knew he was alive.

Hungary 2014, Alonso managing to overtake vergne rosberg etc in space of two laps in slippery conditions, and managing to almost snatch a win with 40 laps old tyres..., in supposedly what was a poor piece of machinery, i will always remember this drive.

Bit late to this thread and these have probably been said but hey ho
Goosebump moment:
I have to say Alonso's win in Valencia 2012. It was like the rest of the season, an absolute never give up attitude. Perhaps it's not an overall best drive ever in the grand scheme of things but from the team radio and podium it was clear it meant a lot to him.
Teary moment:
John Button (?)

Seeing Ayrton Senna pull off one of those amazing final lap pole positions in Canada in '88 was very special to me. It was the only time I saw him do it in person, rather than on the telly. Also I have an especially fond memory from the next day (hope its not too offensive): seeing Senna win while standing in some bushes in a lovely landscaped garden area with some sweetie on her knees in front of me.

1996, Suzuka. Damon Hill becomes World Champion and I have to stop because I have a lump in my throat. I did.
1996, Estoril. Jacques Villeneuve around the outside in the final corner. You. Don't. Do. That.
2008, Interlagos. Massa becomes WDC. But then doesn't because of that stupid move by that other driver in that final corner in that stupid way.
2010, Abu Dhabi. Sebastian Vettel wins his first WDC in a great comeback.
All the victories by Montoya.
1994, Imola. Enough said.

I tried to remember one moment. But I just can not.
It seems F1 is completely without emotions. Too corporate. Too artificial.
In F1 I have never seen emotional moments like
-Dale's 1998 Daytona win
-2011 Las Vegas drivers tribute to Dan
-Al jr. 1992 Indy win
-start of every Le Mans 24hrs race
- Jim Nabors singing "Back Home Again in Indiana" before the start of 500 mile race
....
Ok I just remembered one - Alesi 1995 Montreal. But still its nowhere near the emotions we saw in some other series when a driver scores a maiden win that eluded him for so long
Hakkinen tears in monza 1999 and Schumacher tears in Monza 2000 -fell so fake to me.

Lots of things give me goosebumps like championship deciders (Brazil '07/'08/'12, Abu Dhabi '10), drivers winning their 1st GP, or drivers winning their home GP and see the crowd go wild. But one thing that literally immediately gave me goosebumps was Raikkonen going flat out in Spa 2002 through the smoke:

Teary... well aside from the ones that have been mentioned (Massa's gracious defeat at Brazil 2008, the chaos following Jules' accident last year, the sheer elation at Suzuka 2000), one that did stand out in terms of emotion was Monza 2001. With 9/11 happening that week and then Zanardi's horrible accident on the Saturday, the start of the race was very poignant (even some drivers saying they wanted to start under the safety car, their minds were just not in it).
Goosebumps.... San Marino 2005 (until THAT ad break, where it just turned to anger), again Suzuka 2000 - what a titanic battle that was, Bahrain 2014, goosebumps in a bad way at Spa 1998 in that first collision, and a few more that have already been mentioned lots of times.

well the finish is the most tiresome experience for me. Because I usually watch the whole 24 hours either on TV or grandstands for the past 10 years I overslept maximum 30 minutes altogether.

There's too many goosebump moments to list but the only moment that I came close to tears was Brazil 2007. Just the sheer joy and relief that Kimi had finally got what he deserved after so many disappointments.

I have decades of watching races, and each time any driver is injured or killed, it profoundly affects me. With some, such as Greg Moore, there is no confusion. But what tore me apart was watching Danny Ongias laying in the remains of his car after a horrific crash.
But the human story of Imola 2003 and Schumacher was more than just touching. We all knew that Schumacher's mother was on her death bed. Both brothers flew back to be with her at the end, then they returned to Imola for the race the very next day. There would have been no one who would have denied either brother from racing. Yet Michael not only raced, but he won. As he stood on the podium, all I could see was that black armband and the expression on his face.

Upon the realization that Button actually last at some stage and watch the highlights gave me another goosebumps moment.
My tears moment came from the last race of 2014. Basically watching Rosberg struggling and trying everything to maintain his WDC hope and then while he was struggling, other cars passed him. And he was still trying! That really broke my heart.

One of my goosebumps moment was Button, Canada 2011.The goosebumps moment started after the safety car where Button easily passing everyone. After that, it was a long shot in overtaking Vettel, but his speed at that stage was amazing, borderline impossible, thus gave me a glimmer of hope that he could at least have a chance to overtake Vettel. I think everyone knows the rest.
Upon the realization that Button actually last at some stage and watch the highlights gave me another goosebumps moment.
A bit off topic, but I have a bit of a story about this race:
You see, at the time I was performing my military service, and the race start was most unconviently at the exact time I was supposed to board a bus and start the few hour long journey back to the barracks from my weekend off. Well no problem, since for a few measly euros I could buy subscription that would enable me to see the race via my mobile phone while sitting in the bus, and so I did. Everything worked just fine until the race was red flagged, which caused me a bit of a dilemma: the battery of my phone was not gonna last long enough for me to keep watching the broadcast for the entire time, but on the other hand I couldn't switch the phone off completely because I had no way to tell when the race was gonna continue. So what I did was I turned the broadcast off and told my dad to text me when the race was finally gonna restart, and hope that my efforts of conserving energy were gonna be enough.
Sure enough finally the race restarted and I got the text, with my bus trip closing to it's end, but my phone was really close to running out of juice at the time too. I started watching again and hoped it would last.
Well, sure enough, when the bus arrived at the barracks, the last frigging lap was about to start. And my battery died...and since it was already so late, and the curfew had started at the barracks, I couldn't recharge my phone to at least see what had happened on the last lap.
So I just went to sleep, hoping that I had not missed anything special.
The next morning, when I could access the wonderful world of internet and I learned that I had missed one of the most exciting last laps of modern F1....
God damn it.

Moments that made me feel somewhat emotional were:
- Williams' last GP win as it had been so long since the previous on!
- Jenson Button's first GP win.
- Jenson Button winning the Driver's Championship.
- Michael Schumacher announcing his retirement from F1 the first time.
- Jules Bianchi's crash last season.
- My first experience of F1 live at the Regents Street demonstration a fair few years ago.
- My first trip to Silverstone where I sat on the home straight close to the starting line, hearing the noise of all the cars rev up prior to the race beginning, it literally blew me away.
- Seeing the annual price rise in Williams merchandise always brings a tear to the eye too.

I have to say I've been quite disillusioned with F1 for quite some time now, but seeing all these moments again give me goosebumps and remind me again why I fell in love with the sport in the first place. Maybe it's just a case of rose-tinted glasses and nostalgic feelings about my childhood, but I feel that if one wants to know what should be fixed in F1, one should take a look in this thread. It's all about the human side to this mechanical sport: the idea that young men, of flesh and blood, would risk their lives in machines that would speak to the imagination of young boys and their fathers. The idea of trial and tribulation, with genuine emotions and risks. I miss the true emotions after winning or losing, the rooting for the underdog and the idea that F1 drivers are actually artists trying to tame wild machines...
My goosebump and teary moments:
- Imola 1994
- Adelaide 1994
- Hill, Suzuka 1996
- Hakkinen tears, Monza 1999
- Barrichello, Hockenheim 2000 win
- Schumacher win and tears during press conference, Monza 2000
- Hakkinen-Zonta-Schumacher, Spa 2000 overtake
- Schumacher, Suzuka 2000 win
- Montoya-Schumacher overtake and subsequent elimination by Verstappen, Brazil 2001
- Hakkinen last lap calamity, Spain 2001
- Austria 2002 (still cannot believe that actually happened)
- Brazil 2003, Fisichella winning for Jordan
- Imola 2003, Schumacher winning despite his mother passing away
- Alonso's first victory, Hungary 2003
- Kimi losing it in the last lap, Nurburgring 2005
- Imola 2005, battle between Alonso and Schumacher
- Monza 2006, Alonso blowout and Schumacher win and retirement
- Suzuka 2006, Schumacher blowout
- Hungary 2007, Alonso-Hamilton qualifying antiques
- China 2007, Hamilton retiring in the pits
- Brazil 2008, last lap

Japan 1989 and 1990, Senna-Prost
Senna 1994. One of those moments you always remember where you were when you heard the news.
On-board footage of Senna around Monaco and others and outside footage of him driving in the rain, knowing exactly where to put the car and controlling every slide. Among these, Donington 93.
Mansell with Ferrari passing Berger with McLaren on the outside, must have been 1990, Spain maybe?
Senna and Mansell Monaco 1992.
Final race 2007, Kimi taking it from the McLarens.
Not believing rookie Hamilton racing on equal terms with 2 x WDC Alonso, especially first races of 2007.
Vettel winning it last race 2010.
Vettel coming back in last race of 2012 after spin and winning WDC.
Schumi's engine giving up Japan 2006 and knowing everything was over.
Hockenheim Ferrari TOs, disbelief and rage. Disgusted at after race interviews. Similar feeling after finding out about Singapore 2008. Also with Massa's on-purpose penalty 2012.
Many other Senna-Prost_Mansell-Schumi and Schumi-Mika and Schumi-Alonso moments.
