Hello,

I tried to post a twitter post with a picture into the SF15-T thread.

But I'm unable to post it afterwards into the Thread due to the error message below

An error occurred
You are not allowed to use that image extension on this community.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Yoshi,

I edited your post and would add no, there's nothing about your profile that would make that error done to you. This has come up as a glitch before, and I can't remember the answer. I'll dig around to see what I can find.

It is probably because the url you are pasting doesn't have a valid pictuge extension at the end. It must end in .gif . jpg . png etc

Quite often pics from twitter have :size after the image, the BB software wont accept that as a vaild image url

When I've had that problem, I copy and paste into my pictures and post in the normal way.

This caused the issue I guess.

It worked now with a normal .jpg.

Thanks for the fast feedback from you Sophie and Gilles.

In the forlorn hope that someone IT literate reads this I find posting images from IE impossible (it simply locks my session up when I paste the link into the image box), whilst in Chrome it works fine, even in Preview, then refuses to post it because a file of that "image extension" is not allowed. No idea why a jpeg is not permissible and no clue what is.

I have tried from Flickr and Snapfish, neither work here, both work fine on other (not Autosport) forums

I despair

Hi, if you want to send me a PM with a bit more detail, and I will help you if I can.

I've seen this too, Gav. In addition to the above, it can occur when an image name is created from another: if the original image name included (for example) .jpg or .bmp as the image extension, it can sometimes be included as part of the new image name.

So, as an example, you might download a copy of "picture12345.jpg" to your hard drive. But if you're not paying attention, and the actual file name is "picture12345.jpg" Windows may rename it to "picture12345.jpg.jpg" when it asks you how you want it saved. When you try to post it it works in preview, but there's presumably a second layer of checking when you press the post button and it says to itself "hang on, there's something wrong here" and throws up the error because ".jpg.jpg" isn't a valid file extension.

I get your drift, and thanks, but I think that I am having the opposite problem in that there is no file extension at all. Both Flickr and Snapfish have a facility to share a photo for just such a purpose as forums; effectively what they are doing is giving you the same URL to post as you would get by simply displaying the photos Properties and cut and pasting (ctrl-c, ctrl-v). I've tried manually adding a .jpg and .jpeg extension (as it is a JPEG) but then it doesn't recognise it at all

As I say it works fine on other forums, from Snapfish I have published the same photo on the VSCC and oldclassiccar forums, but this won't have it. Also doing anything from IE is a non-starter.

I tried all of the above and it all dosn't work; I have taken what i think are some pretty good shots of the set-up for the Marina Bay Street Circuit; they are doing the set-up now for the Singapore GP 2015  and I thought I would capture the progress week-by-week.

Unfortunately, the forum does not let me post; i have given up and decided its not worth all that trouble.

I'm trying to add an image.

It shows up in my reply, but when I hit post it's missing ?

Any ideas guys ?

Seems I just solved my own problem lol

When I hit reply all that came up was the text.

Once I left the thread and came back the image magically appeared !

Quite strange..............

On some browsers, when you post an image it appears that the thread is reloaded from your cache rather than the server. There are also some odd quirks if you've used preview - but the behaviour(s) aren't consistent over all browsers. A series of actions which works in Chrome might not work in Firefox, Opera or IE in exactly the same way. Et cetera, et cetera ... But completely refreshing the page will almost always get it to show.

Cheers mate.

All works fine, and now I know it doesn't show soon as I hit reply it's no problem.

Just a bit different to some other forums I visit   ;)
