Hi,

I'm currently researching the history of a Jaguar XK120, that I believe to have competed at West Brook Hay Hill Climb in 1953 and 1954. Does anybody have any information on these events, or indeed know where I may find entry lists or results.

Any help is very much appreciated,

Kind regards,

Hal Ridge

Well, Westbrook Hay was run by the Herts County Auto and Aero Club which still exists. Whether it has a good enough archive to help you I cannot say but it would be a start:

I have photocopies of the programme and results for the Herts County meeting at Westbrook Hay on Saturday Oct. 3rd 1953.

Nos 29 and 30 were entries for XK 120s. The driver of 29 was C Mann, a Herts County member. 30 was conducted by BOC member Mrs. S Parker. G Parker (also BOC) entered the supercharged  Jaguara, no 31. These entries were all in the over 2,500cc sports car class. The Jaguara was also entered in the over 2,500cc racing car class.

G Parker led the sports car class with a time of 22.42, Mrs P recording 29.92 and C Mann returning a best of 25.16 which gave him 3rd place in class.

The Jaguara came 3rd in the racing car class behind Stubberfield's Bugatti and Pinkerton's Steyr Allard.

Hope one of these is "your" XK.

Regards,

Stuart

My daughter attends the monthly Boxmoor Wildlife Explorers meetings & they meet in a hut up by Westbrook Hay School so I get to drive up the old hillclimb course quite regularly. Approx 30 -40 yards of the original start area is no longer accessible as it's part of a garden but the rest is unchanged apart from much higher hedges !!
