I've received the following email and it's not my area of expertise:

Quote:
I am currently trying to find out what happened to george pridmore's stanguellini, previously owned by wolfgang von trips. It was in a museum, but then the museum closed down. I wondered if you have any ideas of how I could find out. I think I have exhausted most routes i can think of. I am only interested as it would be nice to know if it was still around. He was a family friend
Could anyone shed any light?

Hello Richard,

Maybe I can help a little bit. I don’t think Pridmore and von Trips Stanguellini are the same. Unfortunately I don’t have the chassis number of the red Pridmore’s Stanguellini. Von Trips Stanguellini is number CS 00129 and it was bought by the American Clyde Dollar in 1960 who served the US Army in Germany. The car which is white colored (German racing colors) never left Europe and went to Italy where it was discovered again in 1988.

Also the von Trips Stanguellini never was in the “Villa Trips Museum für Rennsportgeschichte" but they had a TCA junior (Trips, Colotti, Auto Union) there which is sold as the museum indeed now is closed.

Regards,

Jan Biekens

Many thanks Jan - at least it gives something to go back to the person who raised the query.

I think this photo is Pridmore in the Stanguellini at Cotati, July, 1961:
