No race thread yet? So here it goes! Mercs on front row, Williams in third, Ferraris in 4th and 5th. Can they jump start the sole Williams on the grid (pending Bottas's condition)? Or will the Mercs clash? We shall see!

Merc will drive off into the distance, the only interesting battle will be the one for 3rd place.

1AM race start for those of us in eastern standard time, not too bad.

I do expect Ferraris to overtake the Williams, pretty early in the race. It would be cool to see Kimi and Vettel fight for 3rd. I think Kimi could surprise some.

Sole Williams? There hasn't been any news on Bottas yet. I'm pretty sure he'll start the race, he might even try some painkillers. I believe Raikkonen drove loads of races with backpain back in 2013.

Hopefully something goes catastrophically wrong for both Mercedes so we might have a race.

you do?
I expect that ferrari can't use the power as effectively as williams yet.
and the williams chassis is good as well.
it will come down to race strategy.
can williams bring it home?

Why not?

I'm not saying they can, but we haven't really seen anything to indicate they cant, either.

Turn 1 accidents not to be underestimated , quite a few happened in the past!

Tyres will play a role too , especially the mediums might be particularly slower as the temperatures will probably be cooler.

Ouch  It must be hard being a McLaren fan. They are the butt of everyone's jokes. For their sake lets hope they don't turn out to be like Honda was. The scary thing is they might just end up being like them.

You suggest something as both crashing with both McLarens while lapping them on the first lap?

Prediction on the point where the McLaren's get lapped? Between 4-5 seconds a lap slower plus field spread means between lap 20-22? Maybe lapped twice in the race maybe...that is unless they break down.

Neither of Ferrari's drivers had a particularly good 2014 though. If Williams can sort the operational side of things there's no reason they won't be able to beat Ferrari.

The only race I'll be seeing this evening will be the Williams/Ferrari, the MB crew will be in front by a mile. I'm hoping Seb does well, but it is good to see the Williams being contenders again

First time in years I'm not bothering getting up to watch first race of the season.

5am on a Sunday isn't worth it to see two cars blast off into the distance.

But enjoy it, for those who are.

I'm just responding to the folks who think ferrari will just clear off from the Williams.
I guess I just have to get used to their perception. lol.

I think it will be incredibly close.

C'mon now. That's weak beer. I have to get up at 3-4am to see almost every race. It's tough being a F1 fan when you live in California!

the weather mid-june is pretty decent, then again the weather over here is pretty unpredictable. could be sunny one minute, raining the next

Any updates on weather forecast and preferred tyre strategies.

This race is likely to feature a SC period, maybe the VSC, so still a small chance of it being a lottery.

Merc's sponsors must be delighted at the amount of screen time they are going to get during the race.

My prediction for race finish:

Lewis

Nico

Vettel

Räikkönen

Grosjean

Massa will hit some sort of trouble

Bottas won't start. Back problems don't go away overnight. Sure he could race with painkillers, but the race is long and he has to recuperate for the next one, not aggravate the problem.

That's just my prediction. Don't shoot me.

Bahrain last year 2 cars blasted off into the distance twice....I think most would agree that race wasn't tooo boring though :)

Hamilton

Kimi

Seb

Massa

Ric

Sainz

Kvyat

I feel Rosberg will retire from race.

Oddly enough I feel the same vibe. His qually position doesn't reflect it, but he seems a bit off for some reason.

Hamilton will retire, Vettel and Raikkonen will crash.

1. Rosberg

2. Maldonado

3. Grossjean

hhaha-just-kidding.jpg

1. Lewis Hamilton

2. Sebastian Vettel

3. Felipe Massa

Just a gut feeling based prediction. Don't think Raikkonen will make the podium, but I'd be happy if he did. Bottas back issues. Rosberg will inherit Hamilton's underdog curse from 2014.  :p

well, I'm going to counter the ferrari are going to beat williams buzz.
merc's will clear off
the Williams will benefit from the ability to use more of their power potential more of the time and the car is at least equal to the ferrari chassis wise

if bottas is feeling well enough to race, he will be pushing the ferraris so they will have to cover him during their pit stops. massa will run a clean race and not be threatened

I never used to understand why people bothered predicting retirements, but now I get it:

1) Raikkonen

2) Vettel

3) Massa
