  • Best Driver: Nasr & Sainz

It got a bit boring with the driver interviews at the end. Could they not have shown more track action, but of course there wasn't any!

Not great, and certainly compromised by the early attrition, but not a complete snore either.  Seems to me we basically got the Australian GP everyone thought we were going to have in 2014 when we actually had a pretty good race.  The front was a runaway, which we all expected.  But further back there was some decent racing, although not exceptional.  And there were some interesting stories.  A Honda miraculously making it to the end even if slowly; a really good drive from Nasr under what must have been very difficult circumstances; an early look at Ferrari vs. Williams.

I give it a 5.

Best Driver Performance: Felipe Nasr. Looked assured driving alongside illustrious company.
Worst Driver Performance: Ericsson and Perez. Ericsson is just epically slow and Perez was fighting a hobbled McLaren for most of the race...
Best Team Performance: Mercedes
Best Overtake: N/A
Best Moment: Nice to see McLaren get a car to the finish with reasonably respectable pace for where they are right now.
DRS: Did nothing

Tyres: Meh
And the race in a sentence... Genuinely one of the worst races I've seen in a long time.

Best Driver Performance: Felipe Nasr.
Worst Driver Performance: Sergio Perez.
Best Team Performance: Sauber/Mercedes.
Best Overtake: Nothing noteworthy.
Best Moment: Nasr finishing 5th.
DRS: Don't really care.
Tyres: Seem a bit more durable, I think Pirelli got it right last year.

Crap, though it should be better when more people start/make it past lap 1.

Hamilton did 7 overtakes from the front of the field. He could have easily lapped the entire field up to Britney if he wasn't conserving his PU.

4/10.

Best Driver Performance: Nasr and Hamilton. Nasr can have it.

Worst Driver Performance: Perez by a country mile. Utterly chronic driving.

Best Team Performance: Mercedes by a long chalk.

Best Overtake: Err. Nasr on Sainz?

Best Moment: Nasr's lightning start.

DRS: Thankfully unobtrusive.

Tyres: Thankfully unobtrusive.

Race in a sentence: Not F1's finest hour, bring on Malaysia.

That was more like testing than a race, it's going to be a tedious season watching Mercedes whitewash the opposition again, that's going to kill TV ratings for sure, maybe we could just give them the championship, send em on holiday and let the rest go racing!

6/10 for the craziness:) all part of the show

Best Driver Performance: Nasr just over Hamilton on relative circumstances

Worst Driver Performance; Massa ..too much of a comfort zone drive

Best Team Performance; Mercedes easy

Best Overtake ; Vettel on Massa or Ferrari on Smedley in the pit exchange, laughable Williams strategists.

Best Moment ; Lewis often allowing Rosberg within 1.6 seconds then putting him bk 2.5 seconds at will.

DRS ; Daniel Ricciardo -------------------------------------------------------------------------> Sebastian

Tyres ;Neutral

Race in a sentence ; F1 Is more than just exciting races, lots to follow up on from this.

4/10. I would of rated even lower if it were not the 1st race of the season.

There was hardly any battles going on in the mid field either which was a shame.

Nasr for driver of the day.

Rated it 4/10. This was underwhelming.

Best Driver Performance: Räikkönen. I complained about him last year, but he seemed to be making the most of an unusual strategy.
Worst Driver Performance: Pérez. His best lap wasn't even that bad, but I have no idea what kept him behind Button for so long.
Best Team Performance: Mercedes, as if we needed reminding.
Best Overtake: Vettel 'overtaking' Massa. I have no idea who cooks up Williams' strategy, but it's not one of their strengths.
Best Moment: Ferrari on the podium! And, to be fair, McLaren making it to the finish.
DRS: Thankfully not much of an influence.

Tyres: Seemed durable enough.
And the race in a sentence: An afternoon stroll through the park best kept to Victorian TV dramas.

I gave it 5/10. It would have been lower had it not been the first race of the season with only thirteen cars running after two laps.

Best Driver Performance: Nasr.
Worst Driver Performance: Pérez? Ericsson? None of them were hopeless.
Best Team Performance: Mercedes. Sauber did well too.
Best Overtake: Let's see... Err... No.
Best Moment: Button holding Pérez off through T11–12.
Best Off-Track Moment: Arrivabene answering a question by Ian Parkes
DRS: Not that bad since I can remember only one or two easy overtakes.
Tyres: Pretty good? I sure don't miss the days of fall-of-the-cliff-to-spice-up-the-show.

I thought it was a total non-event when I went to bed at 6:45 this morning, but now I'm feeling more optimistic. Close battle between Ferrari, Williams and Red Bull, and Toro Rosso and Sauber managing to mess things up a bit with alternative strategies.

Race didn't really ignite and it never really began at the front, but it was intriguing enough. So I gave it a 6. My biggest worry is the lack of progress made by Red Bull and Williams. Where is the challenge to Mercedes/Lewis Hamilton going to come from?

He had problems all day and barely had any laps - I think it was a good effort to be honest.

For the first time in almost 30 years of following F1 almost religiously, I have still to sit down and savour the delights of Race 1 2015. I might do it later, after MOTD but then again, I might not bother my arse. Judging by the feedback here I wouldn't be missing much.

I am seriously disillusioned with what used to be my favourite way to pass a Sunday afternoon. It's obviously broken. But I'll probably keep giving it one more chance until someday I won't.

It's all going to hell in a handcart and there's no easy fix that I can see.

3/10

Best Driver Performance: Nasr
Worst Driver Performance: Ericsson
Best Team Performance: Mercedes
Best Overtake: don't remember
Best Moment: Button trolling Perez by repassing him for penultimate place with a horribly downtuned car... twice
DRS: could've been a little stronger, we had a few trains that lasted a bit too long
Tyres: I prefer them this way a little more dureable, I hated them tip-toeing round the tracks last year in fear they'd turn into cheese in 2 laps. They looked fine, and exactly like I want them to be - had they been too hard, some drivers would've done the whole race on softs and kept the mediums for the shortest stints possible. That didn't happen, so there was still an element of necessary tyre management going on.
And the race in a sentence... I want my sleep hours back.

5/10. Whilst not exciting, I give it an extra for being the first race after waiting over the winter. Also, Nasr and Carlos were fantastic.

Best Driver Performance: Nasr

Worst Driver Performance: Perez

Best Team Performance: Mercedes, though improvement on last year has to go to Ferrari and Sauber.

Best Overtake: I can't recall any other than sitting ducks.

Best Moment: Sauber scoring big points after VdG's attempts at ruining the team.

DRS:  seemed pointless

Tyres:  too conservative

And the race in a sentence: Depleted

3/10 - boring

Best Driver Performance: Nasr
Worst Driver Performance: Perez
Best Team Performance: Mercedes, obviously.
Best Overtake: Can't remember one.
Best Moment: Falling asleep again after the race.
DRS: ?

Tyres: Pretty longlasting.
And the race in a sentence... Congratulations to Mercedes for the 2015 WDC and WCC.

Best Driver Performance: Nasr
Worst Driver Performance: PErez- not terrible but he did make a bit of a meal of it trying to pass JB
Best Team Performance: Merceds. Would have put Ferrari for their improvement and leapfrogging Vettel above Massa, but the strategy for Kimi was crap, as were the pitstops
Best Overtake: Can't think of any
Best Moment: Probably the podium interviews and the crowd interaction- pantomime jeers and cheers
DRS: Sticking plaster
Tyres: Solid- not yet decided whether a good or bad thing
And the race in a sentence... Typical first race of the season, not one you would go back and re-watch. 5/10.

A generous 4/10.

Best Driver Performance: Hamilton looked untouchable from Saturday onwards. Hulk, Sainz and Nasr were also strong.
Worst Driver Performance: Perez drove like a rookie.
Best Team Performance: Mercedes. Special mention for Sauber given their circumstances.
Best Overtake: Hamilton lapping Ricciardo - symbolic of the state Red Bull are in.
Best Moment: K Mags Honda engine lunching itself  Nasr bringing home the Sauber in 5th.
DRS: Ineffective as per usual around Albert Park.

Tyres: Too conservative
And the race in a sentence: Like last year's but with less cars.

3/10- Purely because it is good that F1 is back, other than that I could see few positives about the race

Best Driver Performance: Felipe Nasr
Worst Driver Performance: Perez
Best Team Performance: Mercedes for dominating.
Best Overtake: None stood out.
Best Moment: When it ended and I could turn off.
DRS: Didn't work

Tyres: Made little impact on the race
And the race in a sentence... At least it is over.

Worst Driver Performance: Ericsson and Perez
Best Team Performance: Sauber (it should be Mercedes, but they are from a parallel universe. They don't count)
Best Overtake: I don't remember one. I literally felt asleep.
Best Moment: l'll be back.

DRS, tyres: irrelevant.

The race in a sentence: obviously and for sure, there is nothing good to say about it but I like what Nasr and Sauber did on the race day.

Best Overtake: Marcus on Carlos
Best Moment: Button finishing

DRS, tyres: I like these new, durable tyres.

The race in a sentence: Good debuts from rookies, Button finishing, Ferrari being the second force. I liked what I saw. Mercedes is still clearly on top of the game.

5/10

Best driver - Hamilton never appeared troubled, and Rosberg admitted he couldn't do anything about it.  Nasr was impressive on his debut.

Worst driver - has to be Perez - he understeered into Button, and then sat behind him for lap after lap despite the underpowered Honda powertrain in the back of the McLaren

Best team - Mercedes - no pitstop problems and the best car by a country mil.

Best overtake - none stood out for me, I'm afraid.

Best moment - Sauber returning to a position of competitiveness.

DRS - never does much in Melbourne.

Tyres - not much to say, they certainly didn't ruin the race.

Race in a sentence - disappointing opening to the season, but it should be a temporary blip.

Best Driver Performance: Nasr, Hamilton
Worst Driver Performance: Perez - is he ever gonna learn
Best Team Performance: Sauber, Mercedes
Best Overtake: Can only remember Ericsson's on Sainz so that, I guess
Best Moment: The Terminator
DRS: unnoticeable, so pretty good

Tyres: unnoticeable, so pretty good

And the race in a sentence...I've seen worse.

6/10...I was partly entertained so a decent enough start to 2015

Best Driver Performance: Felipe Nasr didn't put a foot wrong all day with mentions for Hamilton and Vettel who were similarly flawless
Worst Driver Performance: Sergio Perez was inexplicably bad after a solid weekend to that point
Best Team Performance: Sauber, an outstanding result given last year and their start to the weekend
Best Overtake: I think I remember Kimi putting a good move on someone shortly after his pitstop?
Best Moment: Vettel's genuine delight at being on the podium for Ferrari was cool to see
DRS: Not particularly effective but the lack of overtaking was mainly due to the field sorting itself out fairly quickly and a lack of power from the Renault

Tyres: No real impact on the race - would have been interesting to see how Kimi and Verstappen's alternative strategies would have panned out
And the race in a sentence... Not as exciting as hoped but the likes of Kimi and Nasr provided some interest

Edited to add: 6/10
