Hi I am new to the forum to please accept appologies for any slip ups.

I am looking for information on Edwin Hodson who took part in numerous Monte Carlo Rallies between 1955 and 1975. In 1962 he drove a TR4 reg VJA20 N° 46, with a co driver Leslie Jones. Does any one have any information about car, its driver or co driver or other rallies/races at Oulton Park that E Hodson did around the early 60's

Google throws up this extract from a book by Edwin's son Noel. I'm sure you'll already have found it, TIL58, but I found it very entertaining:

This topic has already been discussed in detail in a Triumph TR Register forum - during which it became clear that the 'works car', 'works driver', and 'rally exploits' claims were all incorrect, and all exaggerated. The OP eventually gave up on the TR people who knew, and left the subject alone, finally convinced that it was just a straigtforward off-the-line TR4.

The Heritage Certificate states the car was delivered for the 1962 Monte Carlo Rally with a special 1991cc engine with higher compresion ratio over standard and a non standard diff. Also records show that E Hodson did 14 Monte Carlo Rallies, a number of RAC rallies with a second in class in 1959 and a least one Liege Sophia supported by the Triumph competition department in 1959.

There was no Liege-Sofia-Liege rally in 1959 - it was still then run as the Liege-Rome-Liege. The first Liege-Sofia-Liege event was run in 1961.

Here's the TR Register forum discussion on the Hodson TR4 referred to by AAGR:

I am not interested in how good or bad the driver was or about the quality of his car. I am looking photos on the rally (maybe in Glasgow before the start or in Dover before the crossing at the time control) and information about his navigators.

Would it be rude to ask why you are now saying you are only seeking some very specific information?

I am trying to build up a history file on the car.
