When can we expect McLaren-Honda's 1st victory of the 'new era'?

But they didn't win in 2006. Where did it go so wrong?

When chickens will have teeths.
'Teeth' not 'teeths'. It is already plural. Drop the 's'.

Nice catch. I missed that one.
His entire sentence is bad, actually.

First thought when I read the title was Brazil 1988. Then I read the small-print
It is very hard to say. I don't think it'll be this season, and to be honest, I'm not convinced it'll be next season either. Though I think they'll get there, I'm not sure that either Button or Alonso will be driving the car to take the first victory, whenever it comes.

Watch that comma. No tinternet points deducted, though as he is likely not a native speaker.
Meh, can't see it this year. Next year the engine should be much better but I'd expect them to still be at a deficit to Mercedes and Ferrari. 2017 is possible, but it depends on whether Alonso is still as good and motivated then as he is now. I think Button will be gone by then.

Barring some funky FIA mid- or postseason rule change, I'm gonna stand by my opinion that they won't win a race on merit in 2015 or 16.
I'm not gonna be popular with this, but I think the "McLaren-Honda is a Merc beater in the long run" is just wishful thinking from Alonso and Button fans.

And if they are still in F1.
And if F1 still exists.

Honda will pull out before that happens. Honda haven't been at the forefront for 25 years and I don't think they have what it takes.

I'm hoping for one in 2016 once they've got the PU issues sorted but only then if it's a freak race.
For 2015 McLaren chances of winning are probably about the same as everyone else's bar Mercedes.

Red Bull wasn't dead last getting lapped TWICE in Melbourne, so not really an ideal comparison..

If they are scoring regular points and the odd podium by the end of this year then they are doing well. Wins will come at some point in 2016.

I'm gonna vote '17 and that's assuming they actually bounce back at all. Okay the engine's not close running at 100% but Melbourne was amazing. Qualified last on merit, ended last on merit. Jesus.
In hindsight, they've spent the last 2 years, in which they had proper engines, without any podiums (nevermind wins) at all except for that one freak race in Melbourne last year with Magnussen and Button 2nd and 3rd. Okay that surely was a freak patch below their "normal" level, but it proves they're hardly guaranteed to do well and design good cars.

Who knows! McLaren and Honda seem to be in quite the tough spot at the moment. It's never a good idea to count such big constructors out completely, but at the same time neither of them have had a lot of recent success to back up some of the wild predictions that are making the rounds.
I would be highly surprised if they can even get a podium somewhere. I mean, even Ferrari got only two last year, and that car was just average, not downright terrible like the McLaren-Honda seems to be in its current configuration. In any case, I do hope they will be competitive sooner rather than later. They have two great drivers, and it'd be a shame to see those guys sidelined and unable to fight for victories for another season or two.
