It's Fontana Time!

41Kx1UeqD9L.jpg

(Don't worry Roger, all should be well as long as you don't hire the RBR security goons.

Fontana? What sort of track name is that?

You are absolutely right, a complete useless name with no history whatsover, and since it's California, the name was sold to a local club for money.

1143_Auto_Club_Speedway_19.jpg

(I supose it's mandatory for every track to have something that is ridiculously tall. This one was too mundane so it got demolished)

So the track that was formerly known as Fontana and California Speedway is now the Auto Club Speedway.

Auto.jpg

(planes not included)

With so much name confusion it was best to just keep the trucks at home.

0.jpg

(nascar cutting cost rules are now also aplied to crash tests)

But Kurt couldn't stay at home of course. But since he has been dealing with assassins and ninjas of late he will be in disguise.

467061466-kurt-busch-driver-of-the-haas-

(we are still trying to confirm if the other one is still in it's lair, but our spy refuses to aproach fake bumps)

In the meantime Harvick has been pulling some dominating races.

rpm_g_harvick_600x600.jpg

(Kevin, doing the Superlicense Ev. Ex. 734: Do a Piquet Punch Stance)

But that doesn't seem to worry the other guys, much...

hms09-copy.jpg

(gota love corporate photoshottings)

Ok, so we have a track with identity problems, troubled drivers onboard and incredibly erratic tv anchors...

Nascar_Fox-Sports.jpg

(no way I will try to guess what DW is holding, could be deadly!)

And wrecks.... lots of wrecks!

danica-wreck.jpg

(Darn! That Mears guy pitted first again! Time for plan B to show off my backers)

Sounds like the perfect scenario for more Nascar action!

We kick off at Saturday with the young punks of Xfinity.

So what the heck is Xfinity anyway? Believe it or not, it's a digital TV service provider. But not just ANY provider, it's... you guessed it, a renamed company named Comcast!

confused-cat-is-confused.jpg

And that's Saturday for you!

On Sunday we have the 400 miles of the Auto Club! But which Auto Club? And what happens if they go over the 400 miles on a GWC? Will it rain at sunny California? Wait! It rains at California???

austin-powers-spy-who-shagged-me_480_pos

(this thread is hopeless! let's make a run for it on this Hollywoodesque obviously non functional

 time machine!)

In a nutshell, if you surviced the madness above:

Friday - 19:50 - Qualifying for the Sprint Cup

Saturday - 12:45 - More Qualifying! (But it's for the Xfinity Series this time)

                16:00 - A Race! The Drive4Clots 300

Sunday - 15:30 - Another Race! The Auto Club 400 (But which Auto Club?)

Another nice OP, Red.

For some damn reason I can't equate Fontana with Nascar. It just screams Indycar and of course, DJ Willy Pete. (and that horrible '99 race)

Somebody, for the love of God, jinx Harvick.

Thanks for the always amusing OP, Red!

Im worried it might be too dull.

Thats prophetic since the pole award is the Coors Lite Pole.  Is there a duller "beer" than that?  If the race is dull, you can always shop for auto parts, http://kalecoauto.co...U0VyWitPAR55NS1.

While it's only 50k to get I somehow can't bear the place. However, I do have lots of friends and family there.

Since they are on the SW swing, we've had Vegas,Phoenix and now Cali so there is becoming a circuit here now of folks I know with bags of cash and bags of time so they hit all three.

Down boys, here's a pic of my niece w/ Lil' E at Vegas

The nickname for Fontana High School, the Steelers. Fontana High (or FoHi) used to be a real power in So Cal high school football at one time (or gridiron for you non-Americans :D )

I have some pics of what is left of one of the mills south of the parking lot but I can't find it.   While the land on the site is ridiculously polluted, it's the one thing that could keep the track from getting bulldozed in that to clean up a site that size for other full time uses would cost a ton of dough.  For a while it was a Superfund cleanup site but the EPA has since lifted the designation.

From the first paragraph of the story linked..

The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR XFINITY Series heads to Auto Club Speedway for a doubleheader of NASCAR action, while the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series remains off.

I think over the years we've missed a great series of "Races in Pubs"

My submission would be Laguna Seca CART, Italian bar, with an F1 driver. One or more of us were consuming something other than alcohol.

A black cat has walked past Gordon as an one - eyed guy was looking how Jeff was walking under a ladder...

Edit: that's all the things I've heard my grandma tell they will jinx you. I'm sure there are more... and Gordon has done them all.

I don't think it will be a Harvick walkover. Joe Gibbs / Hendrick and Penske are all up there.

Thanks for the clip--actually, you would expect singers to be more successful if they have long necks--for a greater range.

And you would expect racing drivers with short necks to be more successful.

Conversely, you would expect singers to be wretched racing drivers.

There are always exceptions to any rule.

Nah! He is just waiting for the "Multi 21" order. I mean... he is Kurt Busch, why would he follow team orders?
