It probably wil make no difference but its an interesting sign of global power shifts.

If those Chinese first action would be to sack that annoying Hemberry then I'm all for it

Well after inventing the wheel I guess we have gone full circle?

I think it's no matter who are the main shareholders in Pirelli. Of course, they may have another marketing strategy for promoting their tires and will exclude F1 from sport program.Meanwhile there is nothing surprising in this. China produce almost everything for entire world and of course chinese major entrepreneurs have a lot of money.

As long as the management stays European, I'm not worried.
...Smacks of racism to me...just saying.

who holds shares can elect management as you know, therefore it's a matter of time when chinese will promote their own top managers

...Maybe the phrase will morph to become 'tofu tyres'

...Smacks of racism to me...just saying.
Wasn't my intention, sorry.
Not saying that a Chinese management couldn't run the company as good as an European one, just that the focus of the operation might shift to somewhere else other than what it is now, if the management changes. They might lose interest in F1 (which isn't huge in the majority Asia) for example and if that happens, who'll replace them? Whatever you think about how the tyres have been in the past few years, Pirelli has been a good partner for F1.
That said, China does lack a bit in able people in the sort of higher education, senior management demographic and they do tend to go to Europe/North America to find that. It's not that the people aren't smart enough or anything (because they certainly are, nothing to with racism), they're just a relatively new economy in the corporate world and maybe just don't have enough experience with that kind of thing (which will eventually change, of course).

It is not racism, but Chinese and European are different culturally, including management culture. It could lead to strong chinese paydriver in the future or ceasing Pirelli involvement in F1.

It is surprisingly that haven't been any Chinese driver yet. Maybe Chinese companies have no interest in Formula 1. Hm... but there is Chinese race in calendar.

What a thread title!
It had me gleefully anticipating that we would at long last see the return of some actual competition between tyres as part of this, well, competition.
What a bummer!

Sorry, but I don't believe that you need to be apologising for an entirely innocent and innocuous remark. Too much of this calling racism at every vaguely opportune moment around here.Wasn't my intention, sorry.

Ma Qing Hua had a free practice run for Caterham in Shanghai and a test with HRT I think.
He was pretty hopeless though.

I for one do not make the decisions to help out my friends based on what diseases they have.

Not necessarily true; I keep a very close eye on business affairs and i believe many Americans would be deeply shocked by how many American manufacturing jobs in the auto industry were saved after the Lehman Brother crisis when Chinese investors from a very little-know Chinese auto supplier company bought the out the American auto parts supplier companies - and kept the American jobs, kept American workers, kept American managers and kept the American names of the American companies - the total number of Chinese managers sent over to the US to manage 10,000 American workers? less than 20.......
