Just received this e-mail:

Doug Nye,

dnakarting has sent you a new personal conversation entitled "Autosport Account".

dnakarting said:

Hi,

I represent a company that will like to inquire if you are interested to sell us your Auto Sport Forum Account. After selling us your account, You are free to start a New Account and continue posting as per normal.

The only requirement is that you are bound by a confidentiality agreement of this sale. Would you be keen on such an agreement?

We will not be using the account to post any new posts. We will just be Keeping the Account for our own usage.

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY DIRECTLY TO THIS EMAIL!
You can reply to this personal conversation by following the link below:

I really object to this kind of approach...

Just to let you know, gents. SophieB and I are on this already. User has been flagged as a spammer, which disables posting. Not sure if it stops PMs though. We'll get him deleted ASAP.

As admins we don't have access to your PM boxes, but if anyone else receives one timestamped after 18.25 GMT today, please PM me.

Anyone else feeling a bit miffed that dnakarting didn't want to buy their forum account?

I wonder what they hoped to gain...

Okay - he's gone. Even as I was composing a message to get him banned Gilles4Ever was doing it!

I'm guessing that they could get away with spamming more on an established user's account?

I feel positively slighted!  Not that I don't get enough spam and junk through other channels.

It's pretty obvious that my posts are worth a lot less than Doug's. But the idea that my account - my very (virtual) existence - is worthless, well, that hurts... :(

Then my account should have been the premium of premiums... excelling as I am in aviators.

At least two other people have got these - and I'm guessing there are quite a lot more who haven't yet logged on to the forums.

I'm sure it's quite genuine...all you would need to do is hand over all your personal/financial details, and they would send you huge amounts of cash.

Can't wait until the Easter Bunny arrives. :D

Oh dammit - through being a testy old curmudgeon I have already missed out on the Nigerian prince paying me half-a-mill for the temporary use of my post office account, and the Essex boy living in Malaga promising me a fortune for signing a time-share contract, to an unbelievable offer from a Septic whom promised he'd teach me how to become a published author.  And now this missed opportunity. How can I ever explain it all to Mrs N...

I'm feeling slightly slighted as well. Humph.

Oh, and Greg, re the Easter bunny? I'm thinking of doing a rabbit stew at Bathurst in the campground at Easter. Just saying...

... but a great past! Much like TNF, it seems...

Hang on there, isn't this forum supposed to be about the past?

I had one today, and then the Jehovah's Witnesses banged on my door, one offering me money, the other salvation...

I offer my account for sale - mint condition, only a couple of minor posts to its name, one careful owner, not a single report.

PM me for an absolute bargain, guaranteed to satisfy even the most discriminating poster!!!

Again, the most active thread on TNF is a regular "joke-a-thon." Sad.

Sad????...I'd rather see a bit of humour, than some of the sniping, and nit-picking that has been going on.

Bauble is much missed hereabouts. Yawn-worthy contributions from the likes of post #25 only raise my blood-pressure... talking of which (some of you may be aware that I worked as a photographer in the music business in a previous life) I hear that the afore-mentioned rock-god Doug Nye is about to release a new concept albumn entitle Blood Pressure... Revisited.

Of course I may be wrong, as was the case when I wrote a piece for NME about the Beatles splitting up, based upon a conversation overheard in a dressing-room. Allegedly.

Would that be like a 'Daylight Saving' account ?
