This thread has been overdue by about 10 years. Here is some of the things he has said this weekend:

On the future of the Italian GP:

"Its funny how these people dig up all this money for things like the Olympics, swimming championships, European athletics and God knows what else to boost the country" - AFP

On F1 rules:

I also suggested we give 20 points over a weekend. Ten points for pole and ten points for winning the race. Then the one on poll starts maybe 12th on the grid, so you are going to get a whole bunch of decent guys starting in the middle of the field" - The Daily Mail

On Manor:

"We should have chopped them off when we found out they were insolvent. This shows you what that Justin King is. King is the genius businessman. The guy that was going to do all these things. Its bloody disgusting to be honest with you. Its disgusted that someone can do that for a start. They had no intention to race at Melbourne" - Adam Cooper

Did they have any intention to race in Melbourne?

The FIA stewards thought so.

I don't think anyone genuinely thought they were going to attempt to practice/race/qualify. They only showed up because they *had* to under FIA and FOM rules. So don't hate the player...

Surely a lot of things.  If we go back in time, this should be a vibrant thread with hundreds of entries.  Which made me think, the other way around... have there been ANY SENSIBLE things he said, ever?  Seems like every time he opens his mouth, something comes out no race fan really wants to hear.  :p

The more outlandish things are always going to make the headlines and get people wound up.

IMO, he gets it right more often than not.

Maybe if I tried it, I'd love ballet. I just can't understand the reason why they have these girls dancing on their toes. Why don't they get taller girls? It would be so much easier.

EDIT:  This may be better in the paddock club,....

Most likely "You still get a pass?  We'll have to see about that"

Re the Great Train Robbery "There wasn't enough money on that train; I could have done something better than that."

Didn't he legally get them for the equivalent of $1 million a year for 100 years?

Maybe I'm in a minority but generally he makes a lot of sense to me. It's just he's often quoted out of context and people don't appreciate that he views the sport differently to us lot. For example his recent comments about Hamilton being the "best" World Champion make sense because he's saying in terms of commercial promotional value to the sport, Hamilton is valuable. He mixes in many different circles.. he's appearing in many different places such as TV shows, award shows, all over the place really. And each time he does that he is representing F1 as the current F1 World Champion. And Bernie's frustration has always been that F1 champions don't promote the sport as much as he'd like them to. So his comments there make sense.

What doesn't help either is quite a lot of what he says is meant as sarcasm.
