I'm off to bed now, and I need a thread to watch and post in tomorrow/today/whatever.

We have, possibly uniquely, but I'll leave the real fanatics to correct me on this, the same driver line up 1-2-3 as last year, as Sebastian Vettel sundered the mighty Mercedes machine - but what with what happened in Q3, splitting them may not be so tricky.  Okay, last year, it was a Red Bull in the second place, this year it's a resurgent Ferrari.

Last year, Nico managed a charge off the start to get into second place, although he nearly binned it in T3 - can he do the same this year?

Also, last year, Sebastian's team mate, Daniel manage to squeeze his way throught to third, on his way to a retirement, this year, Seb's teammate, Kimu is in 11th, so he has a mountain to climb - can the Flying Finn force through?

Will the Williams shake off the doldrums of qualifying and surge ahead?

Will the Mighty Max continue to astound?

Will the Mighty Macs make half distance?

Watch this space, and be astounded...

At one point, admist a cracker of a race, Brundle will sarcastically say,

"I hate this Formula, it's so boring!"

We're in for a good'un ladies and gents.

Hate to be pedantic but Daniel was 4th when he retired :(

Anyway, a bit of a mixed up grid so there should hopefully be some entertainment, although I think it will be an easy Merc 1, 2 again (by the end of the 1st lap is my prediction) but there should be plenty of action for the rest of the points positions. Should be good!

Edit: Actually I'm going to be pedantic with myself - Daniel was lower down when he retired, he was running 4th before the issue with the wing, which meant he had to pit - which was where they forgot to fit the tyre (I think - its a year ago my memory is hazy, anyway the point still stands, he wasn't 3rd )

I predict

HAM
ROS
VET

I know, very predictable. But maybe the mercs will have some problem again like Canada and VET will be able to challenge them. Will be good to see what RAI can do as well, I'm sure he will have some kind of drama in the race, whether it's good or bad.

Be nice if Kimi can make some places off the gridline and we get a lap 1 safety car to bring him a little more into contention.

Look where he is on the grid. If he gets through turn 1 unscathed it'll be a miracle.

Maldonado for 2015 WDC!

No but foreal. I think its gonna be:

1. Hamilton

2. Vettel

3. Ricciardo

Rosbrg DNF

I called it!  :stoned:

Gonna get some sleep, everyone don't forget summertime or you miss the race!

Feels like 2008 again. :p

Although I can't help but laugh at Kimi in between Grosjean and Maldonado. I think the only thing scarier would be starting between Takuma Sato and Will Power. Oh wait... :p

So it is tighter when it is wet. Is it going to be a wet race, mixed, or dry?

I have zero interest to see this race, but at the same time, it's really hard to not watch it. +15 year habit.

Hamilton to cruise to the flag, Rosberg and Vettel fight for second, Bottas and Raikkonen will collide, Verstappen takes his first points, Kvyat beats Ricciardo.

Oh, and Alonso almost gets lapped by Vettel, but doesn't let him through.

The end.

I wonder if he will be six tenths faster than Button through the year.

Rosberg and Vettel going into turn 1 could be dicey. Both of them are very aggressive at the start with the way they move the car around to stop people overtaking, could easily see there being a bit of contact. Hopefully Lewis gets another awesome start, so he's too far ahead for those two to affect him.

Wet and mixed? We only do damp and dry racing these days.

What time is the race (KL time)?

I'm sure I heard Crofty saying the race would be brought forward an hour or two today to miss the daily rainy period.

Bearing in mind this is Crofty we're talking about...  :well:

Be interesting to see if Vettel does anything differently at the start compared to last year, where Rosberg slithered up the inside. Lewis will surely stay right and make anyone go the long way around, P2 here is a tricky spot, does Vettel dive to the right as soon as he can?

Clocks gone forward already, caught me out for a bit I was wondering where that hour went.

Do you guys think the Toro Rosso will be allowed to fight the Red Bulls?

Now, that is an interesting question.

I don't know if anyone is in charge of deciding that, or if there is just some sort of "gentleman's agreement", or if the rules of racing in general cover it.

Yes, interesting.

I think I'll go with:

1.  Hamilton

2.  Vettel

3.  Massa

With Vettel and Rosberg tangling in the first lap and a Rosberg DNF.

Lewis is as calm as I've ever seen him and I think Vettel is in Rosberg's brain - which will cause him to do something rash.

This so much. Rosberg is getting itchy seeing the Ferrari's close up to Mercedes, because it puts him under pressure from behind as well as having Lewis trounce him each weekend.

No. Feisty or not, both STR guys have to suck up to Marko.. the only guy who was ever given free reign to not bow down to the big team was Vettel in 2008 and that's because he was already the apple of Marko's eye...

They'd be fools to show so little ambition. Nobody at Red Bull likes cruisers.

I assume you're in Australia, since that's also been confusing me all day.

The race is at 3pm KL time, so according to this, that's in 1 hour 10 mins.

64 degrees track temp is bonkers. Also Ian Fergusson says that just like yesterday, the risk of rain will mainly come into play if the wind switches from a NE direction to a SW direction (though as always, even if that happened, no guarantee of rain hitting the track as we've all too often seen the storms miss the track by a small handful of km's in the past)

BBC have just said that Pirelli came out earlier and fried an egg on the ground to prove just how hot it is underfoot
