That's not exactly a new phenomenom in F1, and it's worse when there's only a single team that much ahead of everyone else. For entertainment purposes it works as long as we not only have a battle for 1st, but also the dominating teams keep changing every now and then.

What does get boring, is the 'greatest ever' driver band wagon jumping based on the latest dominant machinery.  Vettel is now top of the world again after only one race. Recent excitement in the sport was provided by the revelation that is/was  Daniel Ricciardo, 'a future great' . This season it's looking like he might as well never have existed.

While yourr correct that it's not a new phenomenon and that it'll mean we have at least some racing, that doesn't make it a good thing.

The Teams like Lotus, Sauber and Force India are already clinging on for survival and struggling to find sponsors, if these first two races are an indication of their race pace then having them all way off the leaders race pace and finishing a lap down all season is going to be disastrous.

This could be a 2007, 2008 esque season. Two teams competing for wins and championship (Ferrari and Mercedes as to Ferrari and McLaren back in '07 and '08), with a third team close behind (Williams, as to BMW Sauber back in '07 and '08), but faster than the rest of the pack.

Yes, because all races are as hot and humid as Malaysia. I still think this was a race Mercedes lost owing to poor strategy call. They didn't think that anyone will continue, and not stop when safety car came out. Normal service of dull and tedium will resume next week most likely, unless one of the Mercedes drivers decided to give us a superlative performance, or team decided to screw up.

If they left it at pun,

i would have been so much fun

now there's no joviality

we're back to trivialities

Massive noise about equalisation in week leading up to race.

suddenly Merc are back with ferrari

Paddy/toto now have to decide when the best time to shed some of these sand bags will be.

Come to think about it, this Ferrari-win was rather timely, wasn't it?

The fans that act that way come from purely from a place of self interest, which is no different from the teams who operate purely from self interest or the management of the sport who operate from self interest.  Is there a pattern developing?

In other words, fans that act like that, are the fan equivalent of Bernie.

At times, I've seen people on here whinge about the race starting an hour before or later.  If you think the world revolves around whether or not you can have your coffee and toast an hour or earlier or later and be able to watch F1 while doing that..

Perhaps you aren't the best person to be discussing what's best for the sport.

Self interest is rife in this sport.  Yes, sorry to make a serious thought in a hearted sarcastic thread.  I think it'd be funnier if it wasn't so true.  In conclusion, "my team and driver has to win, or I won't watch anymore".  And I love how they tell you, as if the posters on this forum can open up a portal to the powers that can morph reality for the next race into this one person's will.  But there is more important things to F1, than who is winning or dominating.  If they were the only problem, these topics would be easier to laugh at.

I was happier avoiding this place during the Redbull domination years.  I hope that nothing said on here can dampen Vettel's win yesterday.  It was a great day for Ferrari and a great win for Vettel.

Leaving jokes aside, the main issue is not whether somebody dominates or not, which has often been the case, but high costs and the general financial situation of F1, especially weaker teams. If Ferrari can take the fight to the Mercedes on track, this doesn't reflect anything on what is going on behind them - that Sauber, Force India and Lotus barely struggle to survive and we have only 18 meaningfully competitive cars on track. This problem still persists. The main problem of F1, I'd say.

Yeah this is all lost under the Ferrari hype at the moment.

Sure it's nice that Mercedes and Ferrari are competing with each other with their crazy budgets, but what about the rest of the field that has absolutely no chance of competing with them?

The rest of the field was 2-6 seconds a lap slower, and other than Kimi Raikkonen who had his puncture they all finished line a stern with their team mates.

Also, make sure the Ferrari boys can't wear red visors.

It gives them a clear advantage which will lead to a WDC win.

Really nothing new, same as it ever was.

Unfortunately we won't see a close battle at the front this year... Rosberg is nowhere near Lewis, and Vettel's teammate is too weak.

Thats the sad thing imo. The lack of competiveness within a team. I really hope that Ferrari and Mercedes are on par next year, than we will see a battle.

Yes, although 'on par' can still mean Mercedes being 1 second ahead at Circuit A, with Ferari 1 second ahead at Circuit B.
