Ferrari winning on merit with a talented German, Rossi winning a thrilling motorcycle race, Montoya taking a great Indycar win... It feels like the year 2000 again! Just one of those rare days when all the stars align and you remember why we all spend so much time agonizing over our TVs on Sundays during this time of year.

3 funny bits of radio today tickled my fancy, kimi asking if he could overtake behind the safety car those cars that didn't seem interested in keeping up with it

buttons amazement that they were catching cars up and hamiltons bleating about his team putting the wrong tyres on and then just after shouting at them not to speak to him round corners

Stayed up late but PST made it reasonable. After Melbourne I was hesitant to stay up tp watch what might have been a procession..it was a good race and well worth the time. Great to see the Red cars back..and hopefully Renault can revive and Honda add pace..

 

Worth it..then Indy..was a nice Sunday..

I have to admit that for the first time in several years, I actually enjoyed watching a race again. Since he went to Ferrari, I decided to support Vettel (hey, he quotes Monty Python jokes, that's enough reason to like someone) and a German driver winning for Ferrari just makes me remember the good old MS days. Not the bad, scandalous days - just the good old days :-)

 

And if Seb reads this (I know he reads F1 forums) - well done

Going into the race I thought it would end as a Merc 1-2 but it completely caught me by surprise. It felt good seeing Vettel win with Ferrari so early in the season after being a supporter of his over the years through the good and the bad, that was one of the best wins of his career imo.

a German driver winning for Ferrari just makes me remember the good old MS days. 

 

Absolutely bingo  !  Watching Vettel do an imitation of the "Schumacher Leap" on the podium and hearing the German+Italian anthems after so so long was so emotional for me .  Couldn't help shed a tear.

 

Hopefully, this signals the beginning stages of the second Ferrari Golden Age.  But please, Racing Gods, make it last longer than 5 years this time.  We need 10 years of Ferrari domination  .

Reminds me indeed why I love racing, but don't let this paper over the cracks (especially in F1). Malaysia is just one of those rare Tilkedromes that actually provides us with a good racing spectacle, but as for China and Bahrain...

yeah, even though I was always on the receiving end of the Schumacher domination, I looked forward to hearing THE anthem combo. 

 

too bad they used a watered down version of the italian anthem, it used to be dynamic and had percussion, this version was a bit bland.

Right, but let's focus on the positive. Compared with Australia, this was a huge improvement. Even the new engine note didn't bother me for the first time since the turbos came back last year. I just wish the Ferrari this year were a better looking machine, then I'd be on cloud 9.

 

Also, all you F1-only guys posting here... do yourself a favor and check out MotoGP. I've always followed it semi-seriously and this season may turn out to be a classic with Ducati, Honda, and Yamaha all having potentially race winning bikes. It's also incredible that despite all the young hotshots, Valentino is still capable of putting them all in their place. He was 10th after the opening lap and worked his way up to the lead with pure racecraft and brilliant passing. He held off a bike with far better straightline speed in a sport where keeping someone behind  you is so much more difficult than any form of auto racing. Brilliant stuff.

I keep trying motogp but I always nod off.

hey dan, I am a biker myself and I enjoy riding at speed

(until I got done 100 in a 60 which is an auto ban but luckily got off with only 6pts and a £415 fine)

anyway I have tried to watch motogp and wsb and I just cant get into it, not since the foggy days and before that sheene with huge gaps inbetween

there seems to be too much overtaking almost making being in the lead worthless, dunno exactly what it is, its hard for me to explain

ive never been into fast or fancy cars but for some reason f1 does it for me

Good day for famous Italian teams who like red paint and recently have been very disappointing but have surprised everyone this year with a sudden return to form...!

I think yesterday red was the lucky color, alluding to Montoya's livery as well.

 

Beretta won the second GT race in PWC at St.Pete, so again kudos Ferrari.

 

On a side note: the only boring races were those over at V8 Supercars. Boring for everyone not named Lowndes and Whincup (sigh). And not boring in the bad way for Erebus.
