Some time ago it was reported that Tyler was in ill health.

Any updates?

At least despite his stroke one year ago he was able to complete his autobiography which is due to be published this month.

Tyler, it has been reported by McLaren, has very sadly passed away.

Sorry to hear this news. I was privileged to see him about the CART paddock for a few years well aware of his stellar reputation. I'll always remember his passion over a technical issue with CART in regards to Mario's car at Road America one year; he was emphatically p.o.'ed over the matter.

All four gone now...

First Timmy, then Bruce, later Teddy and now Tyler. The Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Team wasn't it called? Hopes, dreams, reality.

Thanks ever so much posting this for us. Reading Rutherford's words reminded me of my times at Atlanta Motor Speedway when the CART circus came to town. I too have been a lifelong McLaren fan after seeing them at Road Atlanta's 1970 Can Am. I would "camp out" behind the McLaren pit box the entire weekend watching my fav team at work. I remember like it was yesterday; JR parked in his pit box with Tyler perched on the right front tire discussing what the car was doing or not doing and coming up with solutions to try. After their chat the mechanics would descend on the car swapping out springs or anti roll bars or laying inclinometers (sp) on the wings . Ruth would head out, complete a handful of laps and return to begin their process all over again. Wonderful times they were.

At least the book did get published, thanks to David Bull. It's a winner.
