Isn't that Rikki von Opel in the shades with Jochen Mass to his left by his knee ? That would make it 1973, and Emmo's sideburns are perfect for that year.

John Watson and Carlos Pace to Hailwood's right.

Something to do with Cevert's death?
Francois Cevert has just had a fatal accident at the Esses in practice and a driver's meeting has been called to discussed safety of the track. Team Tyrrell has withdrawn.
In addition, Jackie Stewart has decided to retire (from the race and from racing), but has not told anyone yet.
Back in the day it was much more informal, and we could walk about almost anywhere, and talk with everyone. I talked with and took pictures of Lauda and Montezemolo in 74, and they autographed the pictures for me in 75.
As I recall, Watkins Glen was/is quite dangerous, and there was a fatality or catastrophic accident most times I went there....(François Cevert in 73, Helmuth Koinigg in 74, J. D. McDuffie in 91)

Beltoise??????
Between Regazzoni and von Opel, with his inevitable Marlboro cigarette, is Arturo Merzario.
