DSCF1102.jpgDSCF1103.jpgThe Mustang Nationals Show was held today at the Birkalla Soccer Ground at Novar Gardens in Adelaides South West. A somewhat dark day though it has not rained.

As usual a large variety of both classic and modern Mustangs from 64 to current. There was even some media complaint that Ford could not lend them one of the show current model Mustangs they have in the country. Which from a marketing standpoint would have been a great idea.

Grabber Blue 70 Boss 302. Probably unsafe at over 60k with the dreaded Bad Day Polyglass.DSCF1084.jpgDSCF1088.jpg

DSCF1090.jpgDSCF1133.jpgAnd a survivor. 351 4V Cleveland shaker car. Alive again after several years.

Yeah,, my favorite Mustangs are 69 and 70s! Though as you can see many had some huge lumps between the front wheels.

Nice pics Lee!

Always interesting to see how the other clubs fare with their Nationals (I am involved with the MG nationals in Melbourne this Easter).

How many cars turned up? Give us a brief outline of the rally.

Cheers,

Matthew.

Though I quite like 68s and 65s as well. These two were very nice examples.DSCF1100.jpgDSCF1126.jpg

There was 100 plus cars. Plus half as many again in the car park.  I just went to look at the show and shine. There was events including concours judging and a dinner prior to this which I know nothing about. just that they happened. It was convenient to me, about 5 min away from my place.

I own a real Ford, a Galaxie, not one of these compacts! Though the modern ones are nearly as big and as heavy though. 2 tonne sports cars!

Just to throw the cat among the pigeons. Has any one read Ralph Naders book "Unsafe at any Speed"?

I have and have a copy here. In several sections of the book he is less than complimentary about the Mustang. In fact he pans it almost as much as the dreaded Chevy Nova.

Ralph Nader was about 5% substance and 95% rubbish in his condemning many US models. Sure the cars could have been better, but so were most other cars from all markets.

It was the Corvair he slated, not the Nova to my knowledge.

Early Mustangs had plenty of problems, but were generally better than many cars of the period. Though useable space was not part of that. My favorites, the 69-70 have a decided lack of useable space. You cannot get the chairs and the Esky in the boot to go out for the day.
