This Sunday, in association with Stewie's Sexy Party, INDYCARS GO NOW!!!
Now click this Youtube link!
The Event
Welcome to New Orleans, the home of Jazz, the Mardi Gras festival, amazing food and now INDYCARS! Yes, who thought in the south of the USA where people like to watch some sort of bizzare taxi cars run around bumper-to-bumper with green and white checkers, there would be a new Indycar race!
Below is the Indycar preview of the race...
The Track
Length: 2.75 mile permanent road course.
Turns: 13 turns now that Indycar have ploughed straight through the esses between 9 and 10.
Lap Record: Who knows? Unofficial testing only here, I believe.
In Car Footage: Could only find this Pro Mazda lap, shown below
What Happened at Round 1, St Pete??
Haha. Tell us what really happened?
What Really Happened at Round 1, St Pete??
We had the debut of the much anticipated Aero Kits!!!!!!
Yes, we learnt that when cars crash into each other, bits of their car will fall off. Whether it was a Honda aero kit, a Chevy aero kit or the old Dallara aero kit (not appearing in this race, or Round 1), large clumps of carbon fibre will fall off and land on the track, thus bringing a full course yellow out. This should not be a surprise to anyone, so we can all stop moaning about how the new aero kits are useless. If you want to bash into each other when you drive, drive a Nascar.
But once the first half of the race was out of the way, we settled down to a serious showing of hand by Penske with Will Power & Juan Pablo Montoya out front commanding the field. A late slow pit stop for Will Power handed the race lead to Juan Pablo Montoya, who survived a late dive bombing by Power to take the win.
Have you got proof of what happened Stewie??
Drivers Championship after Round 1
1. 51pts Juan Pablo Montoya
2. 44pts Will Power
3. 35pts Tony Kanaan

Well, praise the lord (other religions are available), this weeks race is on NBC Sports Network!
So we don't have to listen to these two chumps:
(Scott Goodyear does indeed call the race with his eyes shut)
But we get these two:
Yes kids, these are both racing drivers. Apparently.
United Kingdom
Anyway, in the UK you'll have to watch the race on BT Sport Extra. You'll need too
This week you'll be thankful we don't get racing bumped for college basketball....

What can we expect?!
This is Indycar. We can expect everything.
This should be an interesting race, as it's the first Indycar race here despite of alot of testing really. It'll be interesting to see how the aero kits work here as it'll be a balance between downforce for the corners or low drag for the straights.
Teams which can get their setup spot on early will do well all weekend, so I would expect to see Penske and Ganassi do well. Honda have alot to do after a indifferent start to the season in St Pete but in theory if a heavy downforce setup works at NOLA, then we could see Honda teams racing well.
And if you are tuning in to see the randomness that is Indycar, well you are very welcome. Enjoy the ride!!
