I don't think anyone genuinely believes that they'll be fighting Merc do they?
I expect they'll be 2-3 tenths on average behind.

Ferrari delayed work on its 2016 #F1 car to focus on maximising 2015 SF15-T beta.autosport.com/news/report.ph
At face value this seems a slightly odd decision. No particular mention of carry-over 2015/16 parts either #F1
So I guess this thread will be used for two seasons then?
All joking aside, i wasn't expecting them to be much quicker then Mercedes, but now i'm afraid the gap will increase ....
Let's hope i'm wrong!

Not really - did you read the article?
A few extracts...
Ferrari president Sergio Marchionne is confident the delay will not have an impact on it providing a stern challenge to world champion team Mercedes next term....
"So I'm confident we will give Mercedes a run for their money.
"We approached the 16 car with a very clear idea and very clear interpretation.
"It is incredibly unlikely that the car will not offer Mercedes a proper challenge."

Tbh I expect more or less the same gap, maybe down to 0.4 s. The new tyre rule could help Ferrari due to Mercedes' tendency to panic and because of Mercedes' driver equalization policy. If the gap is really down to 0.2-0.3 then it is game on in that sense.

Trying the same trick as last year, just to a lesser degree.
Also I guess there must be something lost in translation. Declaring a delay and then claiming "no excuses this year" is a quite obvious contradiction.

If Ferrari know why they are slower than Mercedes and how to improve their car to overhaul the difference then huge respect to the technical leads.

Wanna bet how often, in case MGP dominates again in 2016, this "delay" Marchionne mentions a bit casually will be used as the excuse reason?

I would even bet that Marchionne himself would use that as a 'reason' to put the blame on Arrivabene if Mercedes' dominance continues.Wanna bet how often, in case MGP dominates again in 2016, this "delay" Marchionne mentions a bit casually will be used as the

Quite possible. He already did some verbal preparations in that direction.
"Hopefully he [Arrivabene] will not bitch about this. ...
... we have had adequate time and adequate financial resources to do the right thing given the rules."

Well then you should have taken away that the delay is no excuse ("no bitching") as they in Ferrari had more time were better funded in preparing this year's challenger than the previous one. Perhaps Marchionne's Italian-Canadian Legal jargon makes you to interpret otherwise?

As the conversation has now turned to the 2016 challenger then it is time to close this thread and head off to the new thread. http://forums.autosp...ferrari-sf16-t/
