No.

It looked like a shot from the Death Star ricocheted causing the pilot to execute an evasive dive.

I think its time for the race thread to be setup. This is turning into a driver thread

The circuit requires a strong PU and they have that.  I believe that is why they were a lot closer in Q.

Every race, there seems to be some explanation as to why Ferrari seems closer to Merc either in race or qualy. I am calling it now, Ferrari are way way closer to Merc than most thought they would be and it is not the track or the temps. Take Lewis out and many would have no problem proclaiming that Ferrari has even caught and surpassed Merc.

I agree with you, but not to such an extreme degree.

They have a great car.

Well it's still waiting for the race where Lewis makes the difference, i.e puts one or both Ferraris between himself and Rosberg. Until that happens (and tomorrow seems to be a good chance) your argument of "only Hamilton keeps Mercedes on top" remains logically a bit shaky.

Surely it can't just be about race performance. Do we have to mention dossiergate again?

It's possible that Hamilton also keeps Rosberg at the top of his game.

That's exactly what it's all about, race results to be precise. Oh, and it's also possible that Hamiltons current speed dominance has a demoralizing negative effect on Rosberg.

Raikonnen wasn't happy, he said he could extract more if he was aware that the grip got much better.

I bet Seb was aware, and Lewis without a doubt was aware.

Vettel beat a Mercedes with an inferior car. That means that either Vettel did an amazing lap, or Rosberg did a crappy job which means Hamilton beating him by half a second is not that impressive.

Choose which one it is, because it can't be both.

Why do I have to choose one of those two options? Most likely explanation is Mercedes advantage around this track is minimal and it was just Hamilton doing such a strong job. Again, 2 tenths ahead of Raikkkonen will never be seen as that strong.

When fanboys are going at it in an all-out war trying to "prove", which lap was better... You know both Hamilton and Vettel are doing a great job. The contest is close and heated. The fanboys are already feeling the heat! :smoking:

I say bring on the fight in the race and for the rest of the season!

Sure and that's why Vettel was passing Nico in China because they have caught and have surpassed Merc.  But Lewis saved the day.    Not.

Funny post from TomNokoe - keeper of the "dossiergate"

Do you think Bottas and Massa were as good as Vettel and Raikkonen this year? I thought the car had a lot of potential and Willians genuinely threw away some results.

edit:

By the way, Ferrari do a pretty good job on strategies.

Would anyone really consider Massa a top driver? I have no doubt a top driver could get far better results in that car.

Yes, there aren't many fast corners where Mercedes' superior downforce and chassis can make the difference. It's all just straights and acute corners.

Terrific work from Ferrari to take the fight to Mercedes. Ferrari is working really well at this track and the start is going to be really  interesting. Renault are not sure of reliability and it will give some of the fringe players some hope of points finishes. Williams especially Bottas raised his game come qualifying. The top three teams are set in stone at the moment with an epic scramble in the midfield.

Better results? maybe, but not 'far' I don't think. Massa and Bottas is a solid combination and probably the best Williams can do, given their resources. They are still a little bit back from Ferrari, but I do agree that Ferrari have a better line-up

Outside of the hot tracks even Rosberg would still have a healthy lead against Vettel. Rosberg was 0,8s ahead of Vettel in China.

So people would still claim the same things like today, that Ferrari can get close to the Mercedes in hot conditions.

Many factors needed for the result we see.
Rosbergs weak lap, vettels strong lap, new engines at ferrari, old at merc.

Vettel will destroy Hamilton tomorow. Mark my words.

Marked.
