Does anyone have a copy?

I would like to settle, once and for all, if Touring Cars with two doors and engines over 1300cc were allowed to run in Appendix J races in Australia before 1964.

The 'Most unsuitable saloon racing cars' thread is being messed up with this question - perhaps the relevant posts could be moved here ?

Greg, I don't know if this helps as the earliest CAMS manual I have is the 1964 version, which states in the Appendix J regs "cars over 1300ccs must have 4 doors unless homologated by the FIA in a 2 door version"

Thanks Dick. I think the "homologated by the FIA" clause was added for 1964, probably to appease the Lotus Cortina mob.

Originally the idea [I think] was to exclude the 'GT' type cars from what was a 'Touring Car' category. Appendix K catered for the GT cars.

Wiki is not the most definitive source to be quoting...but if the ATCC was run under App J rules...all the runners over 1300cc have 4 doors.

What other rules would it run under?

And so it was...

Correct Mick, all cars over 1300cc had 4 doors.

John Medley, in Bathurst Cradle, simply shows Don Wright ran it in the Sedan races.

I'm more interested as to whether he hotted it up with bits from the Citroen Special he ran in the Racing cars.

If it is in reference the Citroen 'question' in the "Unsuitable Saloon" thread  Lynton, I assume it's Don Wright. Don drove two Citroens, both front-wheel-drive. The 'Special' was an open wheeler, the 'Light 15' was a sedan.

The sedan, yes that's right. But that was well before Appendix J rules came into being. I don't think they had any specific rules for sedans in those days but I'm open to correction...

This thread is becoming confused now, but my post related to Mick's question, not the Citroen.

Good question, we'd have to look at dates of entries for each car and see how it fits together...

I'm more interested in the 1963 Appendix J regulations.

I am quite sure Wrighty would have 'worked over' the Light 15.

Like I said, the thread is becoming confused now...

My response was to Mick putting the seed of doubt in about whether or not the ATCC was run to Appendix J. I was confirming that it was.
