As I'm pretty new here, I'm certain there are at least half a dozen of threads like this one, but this is one of my all time favourites, Andrea spark-spraying Alain in 1986;

It's Stefan Johansson in 1987.

This is probably my favourite image ever...
It ensconces everything about F1 that got me into it in that era - Nigel Mansell, Eau Rouge, sparks, speed....

F1 is also about the people we like to watch (and complain about).

A true awe inspiring moment, I remember it well. But that shot has zero sense of drama at all. Clinical but no passion.

It would be great if one really took a judgement on the quality of the picture and how 'powerful' it is before posting it. That could make this an excellent thread.

I have never seen this photo before. Very thought provoking, is it Italy or Belgium?

Loved Hakkinen/McLaren in the late 90's... Dunno what happened to all those other lads thou, especially the karters ;-)
Wesley Graves, next to Lewis. It's a sad story, racing clearly effected his education. Article here: http://www.theguardi...eatures.comment

How utterly depressing to read. Not sure what to make of that.

He certainly comes across as bitter and frankly it's his own fault for not giving himself other options in life. There are plenty of racing drivers who've worked jobs they hate to earn a living before becomming professional.

Was this taken at Zolder? Pironi walking away from Villeneuve's crash scene?

I assume so, I have looked for something to either support or disprove it but not found it, probably not a very thorough search. Truth be told, I probably want to believe it is.
