OFFICIAL EVENT GUIDEhttp://viewer.zmags....aac#/5b2dfaac/1

Driving in Monte Carlo is like riding a bike in your house - Nelson Piquet

It's the most prestigious event in the e-naugural Formula E Championship. Speed, glamour and danger. The Rich are watching, the Men are driving around the streets of Monaco

After 4 weeks of relax, Formula E crew is getting back into business for the final part of the season.

5 race in less than two monts, it's time to fight for the crown!

In the streets of Long Beach, Nelson Piquet Jr. replicated his father's first F1 victory in 1980, leading the race from the first to the last lap in a dominant fashion!

While Jean-Eric Vergne scored his very first Formula E podium after taking two pole positions.

After 6 of 11 races, championship's standings now looks like this!

Immagine.jpg

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Looking different from the usual one right?
In fact Formula E uses a modified configuration of the iconic GP street circuit. At just under 2km in length, the Formula E cars will use the same famous start/finish line before turning right in Sainte Devote and downhill towards the harbour, where they'll tackle a new hairpin before rejoining with the more familiar track configuration, including the well-known Tabac and Swimming Pool corners.

Lenght: 1.9 Km

Turns: 12
Race lenght: 46 laps
Race Start: 16:00 local / 15.00 UK
UK channel: 14.00 (uk time) on ITV4

T1 (Drivers taking the right, in a spectacular downhill section to the harbour's hairpin. Breaking will be dramatic there)

Looking forward to this one!

(is it bad that I've counting down to this for a couple of weeks and only yesterday thought 'oh yeah..it's the Spanish GP too' ?)

Really interested to see how this new Monaco variation turns out, looks decent. I mean..what could possibly go wrong?

All this new fangled technology! Could Formula E be a pioneer of whatever this new 'Periscope' is? I'll be investigating this the coming weekend.

Time to cheer on Scott-more-Speed-than-expected and the Brazilian man formerly known as Fernando Alonso's b**ch

I have not heard of this before but given the application to Formula E it does seem intriguing. I will investigate too.

Edit: had a little go at this periscope thing and ended up watching Nissan testing their LMP1.. Could ask the guy questions and all. Seems pretty decent, will be interesting to see what the Formula E teams do with it

That pole lap from Michael Schumacher around Monaco in 2012 had to be the finest gift he could leave F1 during his comeback and before he retired.

Just a damn shame he couldn't keep it.

It's this weekend? I thought they were running it on the F1 support bill. Wouldn't that have been better for the series' exposure? Surprised they've managed to get all of Monaco closed off for another weekend.

Another sign of the rising importance of this young serie.

Anyway, it would have been way too chaotic in the F1 weekend: GP2, Porsche Cup, F1, FE. Just too much and with the risk of being under-exposured.

I think they only allow a set number of support races on he F1 bill, and obviously normally for European races that's GP2, GP3 and Porsche Supercup. Probably not enough time in the schedule or enough space in Monaco for a 5th series worth of cars.

This week I had a testdrive in a Tesla Models S P85D....(700bhp AWD, that was fun, but we'll go for the simple 85 with half the power) Suddenly I feel very interested in Formula E. Gonna try to watch it.

Historic meeting held every other year is also 2 weeks before the F1.Maybe they are going to have 3 meetings next year? F1 weekend also has F.Renault 3.5 race.

I'm actually really amazed that the driver lineup is the same from the last race.  Yet another good sign for the series -- it's being taken seriously more and more as the season goes on.

Umm, what? They can't make it up the hill? Racing cars could do that in 1929!

They can. But Agag doesn't want a direct comparison with F1 for the first year.

Well you might be in luck. They could be longer lap times even on this half-length track.

That's something I like about Formula E though, the improvement in speed from season to season should be huge.

Obviously the lap times would be ridicolous compared to F1, they have Formula Ford pace this season so no big surprise.

T3 will be the same as F1 tho.

Next year they will probably use the classic version anyway.

I'd rather watch Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart in the late 1960s with their embarrassing low average speeds than modern F1. As Hill  said in 1968, "it's about putting on a good show for the people who come to watch" .

Oh brother... and I thought Dario Franchitti was hard to hear, now Mike Conway?  Has his voice ever made it above 40 decibels, ever?

They're missing a trick here... Jeremy Clarkson is available.  I would PAY MONEY to hear him do commentary on Formula E.

ACTUAL CURRENCY.

That looks so narrow down the new section from T1 to the chicane - compare it to the width of the start-finish straight and it doesn't look like there's enough width to pass.

That's clearer. New part is narrow and fast, and the Tabacc corner is going to be a sideways fest with Formula E cars
