According to the book, the car was purple and white. I'm wondering if there is any photographic evidence of this car, #105, even black and white would be useful.

ETA: ... and a few more here, including one in colour, but the car doesn't look very purple in it, so it may not be a reliable guide:

Tim ,the photo (right/colour) of 0628 ,which seems from the period, in the Nassau chapter is more greenish-blue (green from the age??)..As Barry pointed out..often mistaken..

However, if you scroll right down to the bottom of that page, there are a couple of photos (presumably) showing the car in more modern times, and in these photos it looks to be much more purple than in the Nassau docks photo.

This is the photo we've been discussing, Jerry - it appears on the Ferrari Database page about chassis 0628 that both Michael (Tuboscocca) and I have posted links to.

..in the new Moss biography (by Simon Taylor)...Moss repeats....that the car was finished in a tasteful purple and white!!!
But the photo in the docks (with #105) shows a blue...

Old colour photos, and even colour reproductions in books, new or old but especially old, are not a reliable guide to original colours.
Ps Tuboscocca, what's your opinion of the Moss/Simon Taylor book, are there any revelations that make it worth the asking price?

Kayemod--agreed, but in this case the colour change of red hasn't taken place, because there is still a red sticker on the screen..
The Moss book--revelations , beside the purple!!--NO!! Simon has segmented the career in decades or years , giving a short (two page) intro to each. Then come photos with long captions, letting the master speak, and not only of cars, you know his beloved crumpet stuff ..All in all not to many news, but a nice 're-run' , and of course many unseen photos..
I got mine (shame I) for nearly the half price via ebay.uk (shameII)
