Does anyone here recall or know anything about Pat Melville-Smith - or an R. Melville-Smith? - who owned the ex-Moss/Walker 1960 Ferrari 250GT SWB at one point in its long career?  I would like if possible to contact any surviving family.

Doug, I knew a John Melville-Smith in the early '70s (step-father of a school friend) who had a wonderful collection of classic cars before they were called classic cars (GTO, ex-works D, Gullwing, etc). He was near Malvern in Worcestershuire. Maybe a connection?

Worcestershire ties in with something I found, Tony. And also with Doug's query about the initial R. But some of the other stuff I found - including some regarding John Melville-Smith - was contradictory so I decided to wait and see what developed. Do you know your schoolfriend's (original) surname? (PM me if you don't want to make it public).

The step-father that Odseybod mentions was presumably Richard Melville-Smith who was very active in the VSCC.  The D-Type he owned was OKV 3.  I have a VSCC membership list from 1987 which gives his full address.  It is in Malvern.

There is a letter from a John Melville-Smith in the VSCC Bulletin, No 208 (Autumn 1995).  Again, his full address is given, this time in Redditch.  The letter congratulates the Club on reduced membership fees for members over 75 so he may not still be around.

I don't think I should post the addresses here, even though they are in semi-public documents, but I will respond to PMs if the references are relevant..

Fantastic! John Melville-Smith.  THAT is the gentleman.  Thanks so much.

Doug: it's very difficult to work out what his actual name was. It may have been John - or he may just have gone by that name. And if that's the case he may actually still be with us. I've just sent Roger a PM with what I've found  and will copy it to Tony, who might be able to resolve a question or two.

Still listed in the VSCC members book, in Redditch.
