Off topic but I've seen bunch of these videos with x axis inverted and I've been wondering why that is.

I think it has something to do with copyrights.

Well, that would be more worrying in fact. They all are accustomed to move their rockets among standing or slow moving objects, way to the grid being the most crowded. Normally they all manage quite well, we'd get a lot of accidents if "calculated it wrong" would happen so commonly.

For the record, I regard it as a non-issue. Understandable frustration, a little childish, so what. If anything, parking at Portier was worse. Thankfully he thought better of leaving his car there and going home... ;)

For what it is worth, no, it is not worse. At the grid you're looking out for people actively, as you expect them to be there moving about and are on crawl speed. You could see the video... there was no one in sight but people around the boards... then someone moved. I don't quite think Hamilton was expecting them to move about in path of an approaching car.

I don't know about the in-lap... i think it is timed... aren't there penalties involved for not making back in time? I think that he may have indeed made it back in time (not 100% certain though) allowed for the cooldown lap. Or some eager beaver would have pointed it out and at the least a token small monetary fine may have been levied.

Indeed this shot might even lead one to think that pushing Räikkönen off was the plan all along. Not much squeezing going on there, more like normal(ish) turn in from defensive entry.

Accept kimi didn't start his defensive move until Ric was already along side

(according to the rules as they are written);

20.4 Any driver defending his position on a straight, and before any braking area, may use the full width of the track during his first move, provided no significant portion of the car attempting to pass is alongside his. Whilst defending in this way the driver may not leave the track without justifiable reason.

For the avoidance of doubt, if any part of the front wing of the car attempting to pass is alongside the rear wheel of the car in front this will be deemed to be a ‘significant portion’.

I forgot about your excellent OP

With that in mind, you are let off with a caution ;)

There needs to be more consistancy with the penalties!

That applies for straights and before braking areas. They were already well into the braking area when Ricciardo got alongside as far as I recall.

If hes waiting until the braking zone to start defending than any gap that ricciardo went for is fair game.

You aren't meant to change lines in the braking zone.

So either way Kimi was int he wrong.

I was mainly saying that the rule you quoted doesn't apply here. Though the stewards clearly didn't agree with solely blaming the other guy as no further action was taken.

I think it entirely depends on if Kimi was moving over to defend or was turning into the corner. You do kind of turn-in deceptively early there, but it does look as if Kimi kind of moves over a bit, perhaps defending a little too late. Hard to tell.

Ronaldo's girlfriend summed up everything I hate about the Monaco weekend, its all about the celebs instead of sport, after what she did on Sky with Brundle I googled her to try and find out what gave her the right to be so far up her own ****. Turns out absolutely nothing, she's not even that hot, and after looking at her social media stuff, yeah Hamilton stay exactly as you are all is forgiven

Thumbs up!!

I'm sick of all these fans defending monaco, saying we arent real f1 fans because we dont like this historic borefest.

Come on! Everyone of us reading and posting here on the f1 forum is a die hard fan, i imagine we all cant wait till the next race and i'm always foolish enough to get excited about  "ooow monaco this weekend!"..but we're obviously feeling a bit cheated and dissapointed. Dont try not let us speak and say oh ur obviously not an f1 fan...we are just bloddy diehard fans that are TELLING THE TRUTH...ITS A BORE! and usually is.

Yeah mark webber's wins at monaco, remember those boring races? Didn't he win with 4  or 5 cars right behind him? both years? I've got a memory of trying my best to stay awake but i just remember brief sights of 5 cars all in line lap after lap  in between my eyes shuting down.

Not every talk between driver and pitwall are made public, so unfortunately it is not conclusive evidence.

Yes, I didn't mean it as evidence that the talk did not exist, sorry, I was expecting that chat to be released and was frustrated.

FOM should release a whole version, with Kimi and Grosjean usual rude comments edited if they want to, but leaving the rest intact :p

the race is NEVER going away.. I suggest you travel with family on memorial day and forget Monaco is happening... then, you won't feel cheated...
