were it not for the two canes i have to use to get around these days, i'd be there with silent bells on.
that many 5000 cars would be a major rush.

Would it help if a golf cart could be arranged?

if prices are as high as the last time i checked, it would be a little too dear for my for my entertainment budget.

I am honored to say that my car has been invited three times: 2005, 2009, and 2013. I will not be there this year, the cross country logistics are just too demanding.

at my age and physical limitations camping is not an option
most frustrating it is.

Can I ask, what's the general concensus of opinion regarding the 'originality'/eligibility of the cars that are running in the 'Trans-Am' class?
I'm thinking particularly of the 'FIA, IMSA GT, GTX, AAGT, GTU' group 5A. Are all the cars acknowledged to be pretty close to 'period' specs, even if they are possibly not all *original* race cars from the period concerned?
Thanks.

Historic TransAM is a very close knit club of owners/drivers whose rules require original documented participation in the original TransAm series. Yes, the current cars produce more horsepower and they probably handle better (modern tire technology etc) but they do not allow repro, continuation, tribute or other non original cars. All of the cars are more or less competitive with each other, and since there are a limited number of cars, the value of those cars is high................and climbing, as others with money want to participate.

63Corvette,
Thanks for answering. Actually the proper 'TransAm' class cars seem correct to me. It's some of the other cars I was thinking about really.
There was one car last year - running in Group 5A - that was being called something that it clearly was not. Wrong chassis type, wrong engine type and 1000cc more capacity than it should have been. Just how it was admitted and allowed to run I don't know.
A quote from organiser SCRAMP's website:
"The Governing Committee meets in February to review each entry to determine the car’s authenticity, provenance and period-correctness. Cars are accepted based on how they ran in their professional day and not on modern enhancements."
The car in question appears to make a mockery of the above statement. I've been around racing cars old and new since I was a kid, and I also understand that it doesn't do to let too much sunshine in on magic, but wow....

UM..............................................................hard to answer without stepping on anyone's toes. BUT, the rules and regulations were enforced MUCH more rigerously under Steve Earle, than they are now under HMSA...............with the small exception that Cris apparently does not like Corvettes, as witness he fact thet in 2013, when the Corvette was the "featured Marque", they did not have a Corvette race, BUT the Porsche 911 DID have a featured race, AND the Corvettes DID have a engine size verification (pump) and an wheel size verification EVERY single session..................in spite of the fact that there were 427 Cobras and Grand Sport Corvettes (big attendance gatherers) which were never pumped.....of course.

I think its 12 NZL based cars and 4 from Australia. Total of 16 F5000's from down under. The first 7 are already on their way.............. by container ship in case you were wondering.
