That'd make more sense., as opposed to paying for live timing, Pay TV or circuit tickets.

They will as soon as there are 7 billion GPs and only 20 people in the world.

Sorry, I don't quite understand what the complaint is, or what we're supposed to be 'discussing'.

We are I think merely saying that this sport is so staggeringly dull at the moment that we should not be paying to watch it. FOM should be paying us.

And I agree, but the choice is yours.

If you keep paying, keep buying event tickets, merchandise, apps then FOM will do nothing to think fans are unhappy.

Bithcing about it on here achieves nothing, as a fan you have to vote with the only thinng Bernie understands, and that is your wallet

I think it's "not enough phwooar happened for 60 odd laps, and then some guy won after being a distant second for ages".

Monaco is a challenge from start to finish, regardless of tyres, competitve runners, etc. This has been one of those rare moments where a driver didn't stick it in the armco on his own, but every minute, every lap, is edge of seat stuff because it could happen any time. And when it happens, everything can be turned upside down.

Not every race at Monaco is a classic, but then neither is every race at Spa, or Suzuka (and frankly the best Silverstone ones seem to need bad weather or kilted nutters).

1 million per race? I would find this preferable.

I was away for two weeks and missed both Barcelona's race and today's Monaco GP. Was it that bad? And is it that much of a surprise that the GPs at freaking Barcelona and Monte Carlo back-to-back are dull? It happens almost every year.

I'm glad I got a subscription of pay-tv for F1... that channel also has great movies and shows IndyCar without ads.

I recorded the race, and watched it later. Can I still get half the cash?

 ;)

You shouldn't have to pay for live timing, or any race stats.

They way I see it is that the channel I have to pay for to be able to see F1 also shows NASCAR and IndyCar without ad breaks, MotoGP, V8 Supercars and Rallycross so I actually pay for all of that and I get F1 as a freebie, so I actually get my money worth. I can see F1 for free and pay for a lot of other great motorsport stuff. Suddenly F1 in its current state is down to its true value.

A majority of viewers don't really need the live timing and it's an expensive system to develop (real time GPS, timing system, developing the app for phones, tablets and computer, servers, maintenance etc.) so I don't really see any reason why they couldn't fairly ask money for it. Also gives the powers that be an incentive to develop it further as they actually benefit the more people are using the services.

Live timing is developed for the teams, not for us. All FOM are doing to deliver it to the fans is taking the existing feed and pushing it out over the existing website and apps.

Yeah, it took some money to develop 25 years ago. They've changed almost nothing since then.

In the meanwhile FOM has literally earned billions of dollars.

I'm not complaining - heck, I paid for the year. I'm just setting the facts straight.

The app you download for your phone is not the same that the teams use I'm sure (I hope so at least :p). Someone still has to make that.

They developed the ecosystem for the live timing apps 25 years ago? Are we talking about the same thing here?

I'm sorry. Yes, the app that probably cost 10000 USD to develop. Sorry.

Well, I'm not saying it's bad business, though I suspect it would cost a bit more than that unless they've only got one employee working for a $833 monthly salary maintaining the whole thing.

I hate the sport so much I post complaints about it on a forum designed to discuss the sport!
