Someone took the time to subtitle it, I think deserves his own topic, the interview is funny, shows both drivers more relaxed than ever doing an interview and it was available only for people watching the Spanish TV.

Thanks Kosmos for posting the video. The person who did the subtitles is a champ!

It's such a fun video with interesting insights. Reminded me of the Fernando and Mark Webber interview a couple of years back, although the dynamics are a bit different. The one with Mark was amongst peers, while in this one Carlos seems to idolize Fernando a fair bit :)

It'll be great to see more of such videos.

Thanks for the video Kosmos. This was a real treat, they are adorable :)

DRSwing, I agree, the interview recently on F1.com with Fernando was great too, just as the idea to film his last race weekend with Ferrari. F1 could do with such type of interviews and broadcasts more with all of the drivers as they are more personal not just the usual PR. And that counts.

It certainly seems that Fernando gets along with Carlos, maybe he sees the talent that is partly getting over looked within the F1 media.

They will also see it sooner or later  :)  He just didn't have the hype before entering F1 like Max did but if the results will come things will change. Fernando just explained to Carlos how F1 media works   But all in all, Carlos seems to be a very nice bloke, he has a good head on the shoulder, calm but with some underlying tension. He can be an interesting character for the years to come.

Those puppy eyes while looking at Fernando are killing me lol.

Does this mean Alonso is a Max fanboy, because he says the same as fans of Max have been saying, Carlos is particularly fast in Qualifying laps, which also implies up until now a bit less in race pace ?

No, he says he has to work on his starts. And how exceptional he is in Q :)

Interesting that Nando rates Hülkenberg and Ricciardo higher than Vettel. Not suprising though...

Rating Ricciardo higher is pretty standard though given last year.

Not sure how he can put Hulkenberg above.

It's Alonso himself saying he was impressed with Carlos his raw pace, but mainly in Qualifying and then goes on about talking about his Saturday one lap speed is surprisingly fast.

Came here to post this too. Hulk is still the most underrated driver on the grid imho. Also, I think Alonso and RIC are very similar, so it's interesting to me to see Fred rank him highly as well.

Not surprising for me at least, he was pushing Ferrari to hire him when Massa went out, and Domenicalli was OK with it.

It is also interesting to note how Fernando says he can make a difference this year only with his starts.

They were, I think, exceptionally good this year even for his own standards (now watch him bin it in Montreal :D ), so I guess motivation is really a big factor for Fernando. /Come to think of it, this was noticable yesterday too. With no FP3 and being the only McL car in the Q, he made an extra effort and a mega Q2 performance. Tbh I think his overall talent masks a lot of times that he is actually not giving 100%. Or 120 %   ;) :) )

Sainz : Alonso is extremely consistent and  somebody has to be massively quicker than him to get past him.

Alonso deserves a bettter car and hopefully Mclaren Honda will deliver him one. #believeinmclarenhonda

I remember Carlos Sainz Snr saying how his son (then maybe ten years old) wasn't that interested in rallying; it was Alonso who was his hero.

He is quite consistent in not rating Vettel too high. I guess, he wasn't that impressed with him when they went against each other or he thinks there are more drivers on the grid who could do what Seb is doing. Who knows. He usually is fair when it comes to rating his fellow drivers, so I am sure there is a (performance) reason for this.

Yeah I don't think it's necessarily a knock on Seb, He probably just really thinks those guys are that good.

After Lewis Hamilton, Fernando and Carlos are some of my favourite drivers at the moment. I hope Carlos can be every bit as legendary as Alonso and perhaps exceed him someday.
