Great *lesser known* racing circuits?  :)  Any thoughts?

My "vote" goes to the Johor circuit in Malaysia... scenic, flowing cambered corners, elevation changes... a classic racing circuit (much better than KL International by Tilke, no offense Mr Tilke)! :)

The Ring at Wegburg, Germany.  I don't think it's used any more though.

The Rijeka circuit looks like fun :p

I remember someone making an (upscaled) version of it for Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix 3 - with that version being better suited for F1 speeds, it was epic :)

Watching the WSBKs - Portimao. Maybe not as lesser known, but certainly underrated.

That was exactly what I was coming in to post... crazy, crazy place.

Another fantastic club track I was introduced to by racing sims is Le Mas Du Clos, in France:

My vote goes to Jamwest in Jamaica:

Or the other Jamaican track, Dover:

Some of the tracks the Argentines (TC2000 & Carratera) race on always seem pretty epic.

Pukekohe was always a great challenge in the days of TRD3.

Schleizer Dreieck, Thuringia

Phoenix Park, Dublin

Mallory Park, Leicestershire

Not a "lesser known" track per se, but I had no idea they ran this funky layout at Estoril in 1993

That's really interesting. I always thought that the Corkscrew at Estoril was added as a reaction to Senna's death, but there it is, in use and not quite finished properly, in 1993.

I thought that section was always used for motorcycle racing at Estoril? Note in the commentary that they talk about "last year" with reference to a coming together there.

Mansfield, Ruapuna, Taupo and Hampton Downs in NZ are pretty good, but never reached the popularity of Pukehoe.

Highlands is, however, my favourite.

NZ is pretty spoiled for choice compared to Australia, which has a few goat tracks like Symmonds and dull ones like Ipswich.

I don't have my books with me, but I remember that Estoril was taken off the WSBK calendar at least once for safety things. Mosport was also boycotted by the big World Championship names in 1991.

What a great track! Also love the fact the guy is driving in shorts and a t-shirt, with a map of the Le Mans on the rear view mirror :p

Probably doesn't fit the lesser known category, but road america was probably my most favourite track to drive back when I drove simulator games.

Looks like the landscaping was being done at the time of the 1993 GP in September so it was ready for the bikes that October.

He doesn't say "last year" but "last time" which I expect is a reference to the first race and the one in the video is "leg 2" won by Fogarty. http://en.wikipedia....pionship_season

Potrero de los Funes in Argentina. Pretty amazing location, and the track's pretty decent too.

This is my personal favorite circuit in Sweden: Knutstorp

Some of you might recognize it from Race-game series ;)

Some awesome tracks in the UK too, Ingliston was an amazing place.

Llandow was a very fast track, not challenging really but so fast.

Crystal Palace was one I would have loved to have gone too aswell.

Some great, compact tracks in Scandinavia, they look so simple some of them until you try and drive them on sims and the little crests and bumps make them come alive.

My UK pick is Knockhill

Not that unknown for British people as it's in the BTCC calendar, but since BTCC is unheard of over here, it very much qualifies for this thread for me when I first seen footage of the track!

I love Cadwell Park, it has that amazing combination of being great to race and great to spectate at - nowhere else in the world gives you the same multi-level racing viewpoint as being sat on the banking overlooking the start finish line and the 'mountain' jump does.

This thread reminds me, I was looking the other day for a website that would let you log all the circuits that you have raced/spectated/marshalled (subject to your hobby level) at, similar to peakbagger.com but for race tracks - does such a thing exist?

The lack of variety in terms of length and elevation in modern circuits is unforgivable.
