Don't ask why, but I was reading an archived thread from 2000 last night in which folks were speculating that VW might be about to enter the sport to buy Minardi.

I think they're about as likely to enter now as they were back then, to be honest.

BMW left Williams because they couldn't acquire the team and they were producing one of the best engines of the field, yet Williams wasn't fielding the best car. They got fed up that their performance was hampered by the chassis.

And how many GPs did they win with their own team? Just the one, wasn't it?  What was hampering their wonderful engine then?

Not only that, but Williams categorically denied BMW providing resources to help them with chassis.

That would be the Williams that built BMW a car good enough to win Le Mans?

Somewhere in this thread I say how I see zero reason for VAG to enter under the current system, it is however mind-boggling to me seeing Red Bull backed into a corner as they appear to be now less than 2 years after sweeping the WCC and WDC with 13 wins.

Right. Piƫch's exit might change things though, but I think they're smart enough not to join with the present rules in place.

Plus they do pretty well without F1, so why risk doing a Honda?

No engine provider will ever join F1 again if things don't change dramatically - and soon.

Hahaha isn't it better that if they join they do it as VW? I mean what's the point to join with Seat & Skoda lol? Maybe Porsche or Audi, but it's still VW anyway, so I preffer VW. But I'd rather see BMW return!
