For anyone on here who isn't happy with F1 (and there seem to be quite a lot) I have a suggestion which may enthuse you again.

I wan't enjoying the 2015 season very much and was finding the racing really unintersting to watch.  I was worried I was becoming one of the people who has start one of the 'what's wrong with F1' threads on here.

However, for a variety of reasons I completely missed Bahrain and Spain and when I tuned into the Monaco highlights on the BBC found my enthusiasm had completely returned, even though that was a pretty dull race.

There's an old saying that familiarity breeds contempt and I now think that's as true for F1 as it is for anything else.

So if you're feeling a bit underawed by this season, try missing Austria and see how you feel when Silverstone comes around.

I missed China and Bahrain and fell asleep during Spain.

There aren't enough races in a year for this hypothesis to be anything other than a placebo in my opinion. If you're bored of F1, it'll be for reasons that go deeper than seeing too much of it.

The Summer break always reinvigorates my interest in football, but that's probably because domestic football is on for 10 months and there are literally thousands of games a year.

I am moaning about F1 a lot at the moment, and the races this season are utterly boring me, but there is no way I can ignore it - I still get excited before every race. I guess its the comedown and disappointment that make me so annoyed.

I won't stop watching F1, but as I've said elsewhere I'll stop investing money in it. I was pleasantly surprised at how just watching the non-live highlights for Monaco (due to a cock up with my Sky box whilst I was on holiday) didn't really detract much from it for me, and it saved me a lot of wasted time to be honest.

But I'm not sure I could deliberately miss a race. Its my me time!

I get excited for every race no matter how uneventful the previous one was.

No highlights, no reruns, no recordings... live only.

Well, after 35 years of watching just about everything I could, I didn't watch a single live race this year up until I found myself at a loose end and 'lucky me' ended up watching the Canada race as it happened (or didn't). In my case my enjoyment of the break and the Canadian GP itself killed off any concerns I'd had about whether I was right to take a more relaxed attitude.   I've obviously seen many bad seasons throughout my time, but right now I'm at a far lower interest level for F1 than ever before.

One thing I've said before is that for me, there are too many races in the championship.  I'd prefer a 10 or 12 race season that allows a bit of suspense to build up and in an ideal world allow the F1 drivers to race elsewhere.   It'll never happen, but I think the current season length is a significant factor in the factor in the amount of bad press generated by the lack of competition up front on track.  A short uncompetitive season would be over and done with and the additional funds saved through less travelling could be used to allow for a bit of in-season testing to give an increased chance of some competition.

Somehow F1 is less special when it's on every weekend. I always thought 16 was ideal, and as a bonus they'd be able to drop some of the shittier GP's. I like the idea of drivers racing elsewhere but regardless of how many races are in a season most teams would never allow it unfortunately.

Same with me, watched some of the highlights of Monaco, struggled through about 10 laps of Canada before switching back to Come Dine With Me.

My problem is whenever I missed out an race the race is becoming pretty awesome (e.g. Bahrain 2014, Hungary 2011, Montreal 2008, Monaco 2004). Taking account that I will be on an exchange year from september onwards and I still don't know how to watch F1 there, you can expect that all races from Monza onwards will be an blockbuster.

I've only watched three races this year. Malaysia, Bahrain and Canada.

Still think it's crap.

Oh come on! It wasn't that bad. Anything is better than Come Dine With Me...

Run a Fantasy F1 contest!

I didn't run one myself, but I did all of the back-end processing and stats analysis for one. It was just a bit of fun for anyone who knew about it (staff at the company we worked for and their friend and family). There's nothing like it for building interest and enthusiasm.

If I'm honest I'm thinking a sabbatical rather than a holiday. I may end up doing a Mika...

I can see how that might work, but I'd pick something other than F1 as a topic... Something available to everyone live for example.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out. It'll be refreshing not to have to read the whiny posts when you're gone.

If you dislike people's opinions Walter, internet forums are probably not a place for you.

Got to Honneymoon at the Italian GP.

Got to do it with the Love of My Life.

Met a 'killer' German lady there with her beau (at the time).

Got to experience Monza.

Got to eat the REAL Italian food.

Got a lifetime of plu-perfect memories.

I'd be fine if more F1 drivers were doing Le Mans and they'd also be able to do the Indy 500. The May/June schedule should be something like this:

Spanish GP

Indy 500 qualies / F1 test @ BCN (reserve drivers only), (Or Spanish GP this week with a different driver qualifying for the 500)

Indy 500

Monaco GP

Le Mans test day on Mon/Tue, Austrian GP on the weekend (to avoid a flight to Canada)

Le Mans 24h

Canadian GP

Of course, that's not happening as F1 doesn't want to let the Best Drivers™ to other series' races.

But anyway, I don't think 20 races is too much if they are well-scheduled. Mostly every second week with a month's break in August it'd be fine. Otherwise it's too much unless F1 is your only interest, I guess that's how some people can watch all the 36 NASCAR Sprint Cup races.

When I was studying in Germany, I had a chance to see the races officially free (with lots of commercial breaks). And for other sports, the Nigerian Streaming Club always helped.

But, the Singapore GP was in my first weekend in Germany, it was the first race weekend in years I paid no attention to F1, during the race I was at the Oktoberfest and probably enjoyed it a lot more. If anything, during that season I learned to watch F1 only when I'm in the mood for it, otherwise I won't be spending my time only for the sake of a habit.
